Good job on the final breakdown, took us also awhile to figure out the mechnics of the same lock on a deadlock Polo 9n6. When the green lever is at the microswitch, the deadlock is activated. If you connect the lock to the car and arm the alarm, you will see the motor activates twice when locking (1.00.44). When this happens the tension on the white lever causes it (under the spring tension) to do the activation. When you press key fob once (activates the deadlock) if you lock car by pressing fob twice in quick sequence (deadlock not engaged)..... the white spring loaded lever has chamfered tab that runs up against the slots in the green lever. Majorly complicated design for a supposed simple end result (lock / unlock)
I agree about the complication of this. I never fixed it myself - car was scrapped before I got the chance to get to the bottom of this problem. I never knew pressing twice on the fob doesn't engage deadlock condition. Good to know.
Hi, I got several questions: 1.-Is it safe for me to stay in the room if I active the negative ion function only but without the Ozon generation? 2.-How is the Ozon produced in this particular maschine ( AH1000) ? Does it have an Ozon plate, does it have any sort of Filter which needs to be cleaned or changed? I can't find any of this in the Users manual unfortunately, and I just want to make sure for it to have a long life. I dunno maybe you can answer this. Greetings from germany .. Michael
Hi Michael, I know it is a little late now to reply and You'll probably have all the answers by now. I can't say anything about negative ion function because I never tried it. I only use it to purify water from time to time. It has two glass tubes with metal mesh inside where electrical corona is produced. No ozone plates. Sealed glass tubes where produced ozone exits only thru the tube, so it is more suitable for ozonating water. Only filter I saw was underneath that little air pump. It was little sponge-like square piece. I guess cleaning it is no big problem if it becomes necessary.
Green lever could be a safety lock so kids don't open doors while driving in a car, but still. Since my door is locked i will try to open doors with your method and as a possible fix I will just try to disassemble locking mechanism and remove green leaver
You didn't need to drill it. You need to remove the loudspeakers and window motor, then the bolts securing the other panel and then access the lock. You need to remove those things anyway to replace the lock

Thank you, having tried the other methods, yours has worked perfectly, and so clearly explained. I drilled a 20mm hole, 3cm from the centre of the nearby hole, perpendicular to the seam, and it gave easy access (see 3:35 in the vid). I can then cover with an ordinary 20mm closed grommet for a nice tidy job. Thank you such a relief when the door opened.
There is a previous video where he tries to unlock the door . The door is shut and cannot be opened from inside or outside. You can see that he made a hole in the door panel (VW call it window carrier) in order to access the door lock levers. If you look under 'Malus Domestica 'SHOW MORE you'll see the links to the other videos.

I have been working all morning, 5 hours at least, watching videos and trying every silly thing suggested on youtube to open the rear door on my golf 4, your suggestion about making sure the metal lever moves - not just the plastic part - allowed me to open the door! Omg. Have been trying to do this for weeks and finally found this video. I had to drill a new hole until I could get a screwdriver on the metal part of the armature. But your vid meant I knew where to drill and only needed a small hole. Thanks again!

Hi, I reckon the green lever provides a dead lock condition. The only way to defeat this is to drill a hole from the cog side so that the drill bit will destroy the green lever and then allow you to open the door. Obviously, you'll need to replace the entire lock module.
Incredible, thanks! Managed to do this without drilling but it was very time consuming. Head in the window from outside and using a torch down the hole. You will need to bend the lower part of the original hole but its still useable after. Thanks so much for this!
100 times thank you for your videos!!! I dinden't want to draw a hole but i had no choice at all! Attantion with child safty lock cause its not working when it's on! But if you pull the door rubber away it's possible to acces the screw. Now the other door...

U welcome. I made these 4 videos about VW Golf 4 door locks thanks to the YT user stuzman. After watching his videos about this issue I learned enough to decide to take the lock apart. In my case it turned out, this car has faulty Central Control Module. No electrical signal is transmitted from CCM to the door lock motor after I press "Unlock" button on key fob. And so the tiny motor inside door lock won't turn and door remains shut.
Sorry I never thougt about it back then when I was making this video. But I think that it should still open even if child safety lock is on. I have never turned child safety lock ON on my car. If You haven't fixed it by now and not afraid if some damage may occur, go for it. @@Alekin86 I guess there's no guarantee. If something brokes, I do not take any responsibility. These videos have only informational purpose. I didn't change the lock on my car. I guess the lock itself was fine. I suspect CCM has issues sending signal to electric motor inside door lock. So I just unplugged it. Now the car's computer does not know if this door is open or closed and so car alarm wont work with this lock. Also I can't lock it with key fob. I have to manually push in the locking pin when I leave the car. And to unlock, I have to pull inner door handle once so the locking pin comes up, and after this I can open door from outside door handle. Yes It is pretty inconvenient. You have to make sure every time you leave the car, to push down this damn locking pin. I'm still using this car like this to this day.
This is a common problem across most VWs. Because of the litigation risk to VW in North America from people being trapped inside the car, all VWs sold in the North American market are supplied without dead locks.
