A nostalgic oldskool PC gaming channel, featuring gameplay of mostly 90s/00s era “boomer shooters” being played how they were intended, on CRT Monitors. As fantastic as modern, fancy, 4k flat-screen displays with HDR, Gsync/ Freesync and 200+Hz are, there’s just something about the vintage CRT experience that cannot be replicated. Perhaps it’s their near instant response times, unrivalled motion clarity, resolution flexibility and 4:3 aspect ratios to name a few? For me it’s all of the above! Plus, you get a good legs and back workout lifting the damn things 💪🏼 Sadly though, it’s highly unlikely they’ll ever be manufactured again, so treasure them while they last and enjoy some gameplay footage on this channel 😀 PC Specs: - i7 12700K - RTX 3070 Ti FE - 16GB DDR4 Monitors: - Packard Bell LC700 (1280x1024 @ 60Hz max) - Packard Bell A520 (1024x768 @ 60Hz max) - C2G HDMI to VGA adapter If you like the content, please consider subscribing to the channel :)
bro i heard these word from the vhs "space the final frontier" its like when i play chicken invaders 2 on my pc the story of the intro says the same word space the final frontier 😂
@@gavgonacrt Yeah good call because the original looks more closer to how it would have been back in the day. Also the current version has episode 1 & 2 content backported and has HDR in some levels.
The issue is that CRTs include these ridiculously large vacuum tubes, which are not trivial to manufacture. They handle crazy high voltages and are quite dangerous to disassemble and service. Not to mention the bundle of chemicals going into it. It would be challenging to even get a new design CE compliant. Give that a rather limited demand, and that would make quite impossible today to get a new process set up, and produce units cheaper than the existing ones on the market. It may happen when the existing supply gets super rare but I got the feeling they are gonna last for a long time. I'm still holding on to my 2002 CRT TV!
The main reason why you don’t see CRTs made anymore is that that the glass contains a lot of lead which is troublesome for the environment to manufacture.
@@Peter_739 The ONLY advantage they still have is that you can pretty much lower game's resolution down to 800x600 on a CRT and it still looks OK due to CRT not being digital, thus not having any fixed pixel size. Also not having any latency, but this is moot nowadays considering how fast new LCD panels are
Hey there Cuz! Yeah it’s a little hobby of mine. Got a sub email from you and instantly put a smile on my face 😊 Often think of our legendary cross-over cable Lan quake sessions when filming these haha
@@gavgonacrt aww that's cute. I do miss playing all the games we did. sorry to only just reply. it would be kool to play some games again at some point. I was teaching my mate from the state how to use the jump thingy in HL multiplayer a few weekends ago Hope you're well
@@xradas1855same, running around with the Q3 Gauntlet shouting garbage man was pure class 🤣 yeah definitely, will drop you a message and we can sort something over the Christmas period 😁
@@gavgonacrt That's good to hear. I've been playing Resident Evil 4 Remake on my CRT and it looks terrible since it doesn't natively support 4:3 aspect ratio, but thankfully you can with mods.
I have a CRT, a Sony Trinitron G500, but the geometry isn't perfect. Regardless, it's still the best way to experience games at "older" resolutions. I find myself playing on it more than my modern displays.
