It seems the creators had a lot of passion for it, which again makes it so surprising that the original design looked like it did. Maybe that part of the CGI team just had something wrong with them lol

MAJOR LAND OF THE LUSTROUS/ HOUSEKI NO KUNI SPOILERS Before I start, yall should give the HnK manga some of your time, It’s by far my favorite manga to ever come out and I’ve found nothing quite similar. The only thing Land of the Lustrous and SU really have in common is that theyre gem people. and even how they do that isnt the same. The people in Land of the Lustrous are made of gems, if a part of them is broken or chipped away they lose the memories attached to them, their skin is a powder finish on their gem so they don't shine so brightly and catch the attention of the Lunarians and get stolen away. Phos is the main character of HnK and we see them throughout the manga destroying their own body in order to “protect and save” their friends. By the end of the series we learn that the Lunarians are actually angels that never have been prayed to and so they cant pass on into nothingness, Phos sacrifices themself in order to save everyone, the Lunarians and their friends (who have now turned into lunarians) and live for hundreds of thousands of years until the sun explodes and they die along with it. Its a really morbid and sad tragedy. I can see why they’re compared since Phos at the beginning of the series does have some parallels to Steven, but they end in such polar opposite’s by the end that they cant really be compared, Stevens whole thing is being Steven and thats what saves everyone, Phos’s whole thing is becoming whatever it takes to save everyone even if that thing is completely unrecognizable from what they once were. Its a really beautiful story and i’ve genuinely never read anything that hit the same as HnK.
I assumed this would've been corrected by someone else, but I didn't see the comment doing so... 39:53 This is in reference to how Season 1 was 53 episodes and Seasons 2 through 5 were all about half that amount. (25 episodes (Except Season 5 though, that had 28)) Seasons 2 and 3 were produced around the same time, same going for Seaspns 4 and 5, leading to people mashing those seasons together and leaving the entry we see here.
Idk if anyone mentioned this but Houseki no kuni's only similarity to steven universe is that both shows have gem people. Literally nothing else but that.

The first one sounds a bit sus, because of what he said! I can’t believe they had Jaleel White say that in a kid’s show! I still kinda laugh at it since I was a kid in 1993! 😂😂😂😂 0:01
