as someone who is preppy and has been for years im here to let you know that the maker of this video is incorrect, this style their are promoting as "preppy" is mostly boho or late 2010's pinterest fashion/visco, this is not preppy, preppy derives from the word "preparatory" ie, private school, if you wanna get into the same ball park at preppy the only style that is even close to it is "dark academia" preppy is academia fashion wear but its usually more warm or rich with blues, yellows, reds and greens, a prime example of preppy fashion would be "clueless" cher or "heathers" the main heather trio and veronica, it consists of plaids, straight lines and block colors, not neon pink and blue, glitter roots and clay necklaces, preppy is sleek and refined, not boho street wear, do not follow this tutorial, the poster is a fucking idiot, most likely a child who didnt even google what preppy means let alone the culture that comes with it and simply needs to stfu.
