I remember seeing this movie for the first time at school on movie day. It was way better as a 10 year old boy at the time. Or maybe i was just happy to see anything with the lights turned down, popcorn and candy in class instead of doing school work. 😅
lol the show DID happen on E! and weirdly enough I watched all of the show and never sought out the movie 😅😂 I almost feel like the movie ran once or twice on E! after the shows conclusion I can’t remember the name of the show, but it felt like they were trying to mimic the MTV series of the making of “House Of Wax”.
This movie was so bad in a great way. Hilarious dialogue, bad practical kills, and over the top characters. Its a perfect double feature with Thankskilling.
Gonna be honest, I love 5 second films, but man...Re-watching this a year ago, it's really fucking annoying to sit through. A lot of it is painfully unfunny, and the gimmicks are just really lame. I had more fun with Scare Package 1, but this movie felt like Scare Package 2 but even worse (which is saying a lot because Scare Package 2 is almost unwatchable)
Great insight, you made me look at a few things differently and with a different mindset with this movie, and I've been watching Bad Taste every other year for probably 30 years now.
To say that Big Money Hustlas is cheesy, campy, low budget schlock from start to finish is like saying that the surface of the sun is a little warm. That's the beauty of the movie though. I get the feeling that that is the EXACT kind of movie ICP wanted to make, and they succeeded wildly. The movie is absolutely hilarious. The jokes hit, the cameos are incredible, and they are CONSTANTLY driving an 18-wheeler loaded with dynamite into the 4th wall. It's a thoroughly entertaining movie through and through, and you really don't have to be an ICP fan to enjoy all the crazy fun. I especially enjoy the running gag of the little fanfare that plays whenever someone says "Sugar Bear" and every time they openly acknowledge that its a movie. "Bill Bill Wasn't in the Movie" also never fails to make me laugh.
as much as I love this one, I will admit, it's main draw isn't the characters, it's moreso for me the atmosphere, the visuals, the score and the razorback itself, I really really wish the film would've focused on the hunter, the husband's character was so bland and his romance with the other lady feels very imposed, I'd personally rate this one either a 7/10 or an 8/10
I was born in 2003 and I was among the lucky few that saw this at the right age when I was a toddler, I just finished rewatching it with my best friend J and this is the first time he's ever seen it at 22 years old❣
Great review. I have a theory. The dad being obsessed with the Chinese medicine can symbolize the virus came from China or the medicine the dad was obsessed with had a side effect which made the kids homicidal.
II'm stunned there aren't more reactions to this movie! This was movie is criminally underrtated. Those dragons they created would stand up to any we see on TV or movies in 2024!
They also lifted sound effects from Star Wars. When Supentor is flying around on his chariot during the battle that allows them to procure the broadcast energy transmitter, you can hear the sound effect of Darth Vader's TIE fighter. You also hear the sound effect of the interior of the Tie Fighter along with Darth Vader breathing. I wish the movie would have had an original score like Transformers did though. Being that they just used the same music from season 3 of Transformers and season 2 of GI Joe it falls a vit short of the theatrical feel and has more of a television special.
Because it's John Carpenter I can watch it, But it's fairly brutal. I mean even after this he directed Vampires and while bad It had a pretty awesome opening. I would like to hear from John what happened to this movie. I mean its brutal bad like the Directing is terrible. Nothing in this movie remotely resembles any of the classic's Carpenter has directed before.
John was phoning it in (or just getting old) by this point I think. It must have been hard making the film while NOT having it be a proper "Escape from Mars", so he just decided to have fun with a bunch of famous metal guys and mess around out there on the salt flats. o7
28:32 lol that’s a Caradine he’s David’s brother if I’m not mistaken , there’s like 5 of them I didn’t know this till the other day , blew my mind. He’s also in Body Bags and apparently escape from LA too lol.. carpenter is consistent in his casting if nothing else lol.
He was actually really good in Body Bags! That whole gas station story was pretty friggin awesome honestly. Probably the last great directing Carpenter did.
If you're wondering why this particular National Lampoon's movie flopped, it's because it was not written by film director, John Hughes. It was written by film director, Matty Simmons. All of the other National Lampoon's movies were written by John Hughes too. May he rest in peace.
What a hoot that this movie is filled with so many stars. I must admit that Slim Pickens is my favorite of the bunch. Good old Ernest Borgnine is a very close second. His charisma always shines through even when he portrays a less-than-stellar character. No number rating, but I like this. Thanks.
Interesting to note-- the male coded robot actually gets a couple of WEEBO'S scenes from Flubber. Early in it's first appearance it flies around animating a white dress over a sleeping man, and near the end it gets smashed across a basement and killed by a balding thug.
Gi joe has always been VERY inclusive. That was not a racist scene. People always say bananas when talking about something crazy. Reading way too hard into that lol😅
