Orthobullets is a collaboration community and educational resource for orthopaedic surgeons and musculoskeletal healthcare providers designed to improve through the communal efforts of those who use it as a learning resource. It is a simple but powerful concept.

This procedure was performed on me but a excessive amount of the acetabular rim was removed which resulted in needing a total hip replacement to correct the hip dysplasia. Bottom line it still didn't correct the impingement. Numerous orthopedic surgeons reviewed implant noting it look good but missed the psoas impingement that continued to cause severe pain symptoms. Sometimes the obvious isn't always the problem but rather a result of the issues at hand. Psoas syndrome is more common than documented and generally missed by 95% of treating physicians

The surgeon at my hospital is on about doing a cement spacer op on my right shoulder and arm which has a full break one inch below the ball and with two smaller fractures in the ball. There is an infected non union below the break which is a staph infection so he is prepared to remove the hardware and do the cement spacer op, but he is concerned that it may only be the first of many and at 63 with decreasing health, he is not so sure of success. I am tempted to leave the metal in there and just get on with life, which will make him happy, but there is the occasional 'breakthrough pain' in the shoulder which Morphine has been prescribed but they will not allow this forever. Ideas please? Any advice? Trust the doc and say no? It is my choice to intervene but I am frightened and struggle with PTSD so avoidance of stressful situations is an issue. Please help if you can.

Great info. For a sprained lisfranc, how long does recovery typically take. Obviously there are different grades of sprains but I guess a mild sprain for reference? I am currently dealing with a lot of pain in that regions

Had an ankle fusion in 2019, was a total failure with constant pain while walking. Had a TAR done in April of this year, after 4 weeks I was walking with very little pain. Ready for six month checkup next week and after months of PT I’m probably at 80% total recovery. Feels good to be able to walk pain free and my quality of life is improving everyday.
