Seth LaCount ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, UNITED STATES 10.08.2024 Alaska Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Detachment 2, Charlie Company, 3-140th Security and Support Battalion extracted and packaged the main rotor blades, then loaded the two UH-72A Lakota light utility helicopters onto a C-17 Globemaster III at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. The detachment of approximately 20 Alaska Guardsmen and two UH-72A Lakota light utility helicopters from the 207th Aviation Troop Command will deploy for about 12 months to support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection security mission in the federal Southwest Border Mission. Family, friends, and colleagues attended the deployment ceremony. ----- To load a helicopter in a C-17 Globemaster III, First we need to decouple the rotor blades Then we need to carefully make sure that during loading, The tail of the helicopter is not damaged. Headed for the Southwest Border are 2x Lakota UH-72A Light Utility Helicopters From the Alaska Army National Guard Together with a support detachment of 20 Guardsmen Now deployed for the next 12 months
