Don't understand the Spanish in this exciting of "descargazos" in the world of salsa music? Here it is....Note that Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez started the first release of "Soy El Rey" as a regular boogaloo hit, and then, when Sonora Carruseles covered Pete's song in a new way, the style of salsa that came was called "modern boogaloo salsa". La Sonora's version of the hit became one of the hottest fast-tempo salsa songs to dance to in almost all salsa clubs in the USA in the 1990s---not just Colombia. Here are the words with the English translation........."Come la gente pide el Boogaloo......el Boogaloo lo traigo yo"(How the people take the Boogaloo...I carry it--that Boogaloo). (2x, and then it is repeated once); "Soy el rey del Boogaloo, Soy el rey del Boogaloo, Soy el rey del Boogaloo, Soy el rey de Boogaloo......hay duda!" (4x)(I am the Boogaloo King, I am the Boogaloo King, I am the Boogaloo King, I am the Boogaloo King....There is no doubt!)
This song is by pete rodriguez, not by pete el conde rodriguez. they are different orchestras with very different styles. pete rodriguez is also the author of i like it like that and micaela.
I have to make a correction to the Spanish lyrics...it is "no hay duda", not "hay duda". It was my fault because the letter "h" is not pronounced in Spanish, so when I hear the word "no", it elides with "hay", so you hardly hear the word "no".
Tremendo son los barones, tremenda voz la de ese Charlie y tambien tremenda ritmo y melodia, no me canso de escuchar esta musica. Que rico suena. Esto si que es musica bien hecha. Aguaaaaaaa.
