I'm glad that many of the desert scenes are still the same today! In the movie, David seems to be driving around California randomly. I can't imagine where he would have gone if he hadn't met Peterbilt and it was a normal day. I have a few questions. How much total distance do they travel in the movie? And is it possible to travel the same route as the characters from morning to sunset in one day?
The splendid image of Dennis - at 12:46 - is of him standing in a studio in front of a rear projection... at least, this is how it looks to me. The older I get, the better able I am to *spot* when a rear projection is used !
Nope. That's 100% on location(but I can see why someone might think that!). As a matter fact originally they (studio) wanted him to shoot most of the movie with rear projection in a studio with minimal on location - so he only had like 2 weeks to shoot the whole movie on location. All real.
Holy shit, everything looked so much better back in 1971... even the desert roads are full of carparks and banks and car dealers. Concrete everywhere even in the middle of the desert. Even the architecture is shit nowadays, it is all hangars and warehouses, no Art Deco left, well at least they kept the restaurant intact. But look at the road, it was all sand and dust how it should be, now it is all road aggregates. Duel was rad, the ultimate road trip movie gone wrong. They don't do movies like these anymore. Hollywood turned to shit, the 2000s have been shit from the get go. The 1900s were so much superior in every way you can think of. The 2020s are even more useless and decadent. I think we need a war to wipe it all out so people stop cancelling everything and start realizing how shit their definition of progress actually is. Millennials got no spine, this era's got no spine. Everything is boring. I am gonna buy a Peterbilt and scare people for their own good, get some excitement in them.
It would have been great if you could have put the coordinates for each scene or its geographic location. Been on those roads before, but most of these spots I don't notice when driving
Sir, this is fantastic. Thank you for the effort you have made w this. Duel is one of my favourite movies of all time. I was only 9 when it came out but saw it later when I was older and have seen it again as recently as last week. You have taken great care in getting details right. Thank you again. @@GPCalifornia .. wow....thanks for your reply, seriously though, it's an absolute classic, cult film, James Brolin, your feedback from a revisit TO THIS movie would be massive, and well worth it....I'd be forever indebted to you.... anyway, Duel revisit absolute classic....thank you 👍
What a coincidence!!! I watched Duel last night and today I got your video. Thks to recorded and uploded. Amazing how Santa Clarita and the road still almost the same.
Some road works seem to go on forever don't they?... and there never seems to be any roadworkers in sight.... 52 years later and they are still getting ready to start work at 14:06 😆
I wonder if Dennis Weaver did the actual driving all the way through or just close ups. But the whole thing turned out one masterpiece of a thriller movie. Love the Peterbilt 281 so much. I've just spent a lot of money to buy the model die-cast full truck and tanker. Impressive vehicle.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
Such a classic. Stands tall today as it did in the 70s. I would have loved to see this on a big screen at the theatre. What a movie. Love the locations used in California. Those sights s are wonderful. I wish I could visit. Interesting to see then and now.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
As a kid watching this movie terrified me. One of the greatest cinemas of all time. To me, it seemed that they were the only two dueling it to the death on the road at times and with no help in sight. I remember also feeling terrible for the snake lady and her pets. Thank you America 1971
What a Movie! Fisrt Spielberg's one! This story couln't be bether, about a Psycopath Truck Driver during 70's. Who doesn't understand the issue about Psychopathy could label this movie as a terror movie, but there was a Truck Driver inside of it... The problem actually is not the Truck but the Driver behind the steering wheel. (And there are still some yet worlwide...) 👍 Greatings from Brazil to American fans... 🤗 🚚
