Looks like Carols by Candlelight. There was another breakdown during carols in about 2010 or so - My family watches every year, so we caught it as it happened. The feed cut for almost all the Hi-5 and Santa segment. At first it was just the digital feed because we went to the older TV in another room and found the analog feed worked fine. Then they came back for a minute and dropped again, this time on both feeds. Nothing but a stationary 9 logo. When they came back for good. Karl Stefanovic (host at the time alongside Lisa Wilkinson) took a moment to apologise. Sadly I've never been able to find any clips of this online.

That's weird. I don't remember a Simpsons Halloween special airing at such a late timeslot in 2004. I wonder what episode(s) they played. And what day of the week would this have been? I would guess Friday, but surely Ten wouldn't have wasted a new Simpsons on a Friday night in the 2000s. And who could forget The Hothouse and its hilariously bad theme song? XD (Sadly, I can't find it anywhere)
