Hello! My name is Jordan and I am a 3rd year medical student at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
I made this channel to share my story through medicine and hopefully inspire the next generation of future physicians.
The information in my videos represent my own opinion and do not represent the views of the Hackensack Meridian Health Network or Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine
I really appreciate all of your videos! They have been super helpful and as someone in the 2024-2025 app cycle you have taught me a lot about what actually goes on in med school. Fingers crossed I get an interview from HMSOM!
I am not a psychiatrist, I am a medical student doing a 6 week rotation in psychiatry. But yes electroconvulsive therapy is still used for treatment-resistant or very severe cases of some psychiatric conditions including Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia
It’s both funny and sad to hear him mystified by how a patient is struggling one day and practically overnight he’s much better. I laugh and cry at the same time, because I was that patient and on more than one occasion I had to lie and “fake it” in order to be allowed to go home. I was still severely depressed and suicidal, but I wasn’t getting better locked away. I thought it was ridiculous how they make you do a “safety contract” in order to agree to release you from the psych prison. The patients know the “safety contract” is just another form they use to CYA, in case we kill ourselves upon release. I know now, after 5 times, what to say, what to do and how to act, so they can’t lock me away again. Meanwhile, I take things day by day, but I’m always prepared to end it, which gives me lots of comfort.
Im very sorry to hear about your struggles. I know the inpatient unit is not a great environment and it can make it difficult for some patients to get better based on the restrictions. I also know that some patients do know what to say and "fake it" in order to get out, however, I also saw patients genuinely improve over the course of several days with therapy, medication, and support. It's not a perfect system, but they do their best for the safety of the patient and those around them. I hope you are doing better and live a long, fulfilling life
The social life in med school is what you make of it. You are very busy but you are surrounded by amazing people who all have the same goals so it’s easy to find great friends
Hey , i love your content .im doing education but i wanted to know wen u do medicine ,do you yourself choose to be a neurologist or cardiologist or they got to choose for you that . Idk if u get me but u see english is not my first language hehe
My son had afib several yrs...due to heavy Redbull intake...very scary time...he no longer drinks Redbull..exercises regularly...and is always conscious. Congrats on completing Family Med!!!
It looks like you are near Ocean Grove - where I go with friends every summer- its next door to Asbury and very peaceful :) Anyway best of luck on your shelf exams!!!
Thank you for this...I have been struggling finding my routine - and dealing with lack of motivation- etc. But I know that its all a process.... You too will find your rhythm as well. Good luck on your upcoming races!
Bro, please request you to add more of B-roll as a supplement to what you are talking , Visualizing your work and study could be helpful instead of only listening to talking.
I’m not really sure what you mean but when you match to a program, you are legally bound to that program. You become an employee of the hospital and sign a contract
@@jordantwindsor Okay so let’s say I no longer want to be apart of that program and want to quit. Will they sue for breach of contract? Or do they have a non compete clause in the contract, meaning you can no longer work in the medical field.
@@_JonJon_ I am honestly not sure. I don’t think they can prevent you from applying to a different residency. It’s legally binding in the sense that you can be like “oh actually I’m gonna go to residency at this other spot”. I’ve also never heard of someone being sued from quitting residency and that does happen occasionally
Hi! Thank you for taking us along your journey! I just subscribed to your channel, wish I would have came across this along time ago haha! Wishing you much success on all your future endeavors!!🥳🥳
I have been working through de Virgilio and it’s helpful. Has most of the common pathologies you will see in the hospital and in tests. It is written for a medical student so it’s easy to digest
Do you come from an affluent background? I don’t mean to poke around just wondering how you managed all the high quality content w med school tuitons and stuff
I was fortunate enough to have family support for college tuition and some for med school, but I will still come out of school with a few hundred thousand dollars of student loans. Unfortunately that’s the name of the game for most med students Thankfully my school supports students financially when they have to travel and present at research conferences so this trip didn’t cost me much!
