Keren Howell My first love was papercrafting, particularly action mechanisms and pop-ups. Now retired from the UK Civil Service and mostly crafting with vinyl, sublimation printing and lasers.
I finally got my ornament done, but I do have a question ⁉️ when you but the outline on the Star why do you do it two times, cause I can't figure out what you do with it!!? Help cause when I run it it keeps telling me that I haven't done all the perimeters and it wants me to set permeters for the second outline on the Star that we hid....
Oops, it looks as if I edited out the bit where I deleted Layer 2 (the hidden layer!) . My mistake! Thanks for drawing my attention to it. I'll put a correction in the description.
@@DarkMoonEmporium thank you I just love the ornament and the way you take ur time. The F1 is my first laser and I feel so proud of myself All Thanks To You 💗🙏💗
Question what inserts your project into the cloud i've had a couple appear there but dont know how .. i want to make logos in my office then use my phone in my shop i turn wooden bowls This file movement is a real problem. xcs help as far as i can find fails to mention it other than they will sell more space.. So far i've not found one on this subject i'm missing some step.
@@DarkMoonEmporium Thanks turns out on the right top it says upload from computer with what is a cloud to the left and this is what moves it but it works in the background. And magically appears in the cloud when opened. I will try your way as well as i didn't know i had a cloud drive.
You're a lifesaver I've just cut hundreds of hydrangeas petals which all stuck and needed poking out but my next one will be much easier, thankyou thankyou thankyou.
Please can you tell me how you were able to change the text from HELLO. I have tried using my left mouse button and the right one but in both cases it just put squares and rectangles around the text and I couldn't change it at all.
Just left- click anywhere on the text. You should see a blinking vertical line. Once you see that you can go ahead and edit the text. It can be a bit fiddly so keep trying.
@@DarkMoonEmporium I was left clicking on the text but there was no blinking vertical line only the squares and rectangles. I am using XCS v2 for the f1 Ultra. Maybe it is different for this machine. 😔
I just subscribed and will be watching all your videos. I just bought an F1 and thought the software looked so similar to Cricut design space that I would just pick Creative Space up no problem..NOT!!! Thank you so much for your slow detailed video, it helped me understand the tools and options available. I plan to binge watch your channel this weekend.
Thank you! I haven't been posting much lately as I'm in the middle of moving house but I hope to be back with my take on all the new features in XCS, so please do come back again sometime!
Thank you for this great idea and the very well-made video. Although my English is not that good, I will be able to recreate this great box. I do have one comment though: why are you using the bone folder upside down? The tip is flattened so that you can stroke the paper with a wider surface. At the same time, you press the paper flat so that you don't have to correct it with your fingers, as you did at minute 2:01. Try it out and you will be amazed. Best wishes from Germany. J.
Thank you for this! Do you know of a way to engrave each letter individually instead of it doing the whole word at one time? I want to ununite the letters:).
If you don't want to enter text one letter at a time, you can use Outline to make a vector and then use the vector editor to make changes. The vector tools are going to be my next video, but right now I'm in the middle of a house move so it may be a while before I can get to it. I'll try to post a quick video and put the link here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j9GuF-PJZfc.html.
As this is totally new to me, I found this and your other step by step video highly informative. Like to suggest you consider doing a practical follow up video such as changing the name on a name flower.
Thank you! And that's a good suggestion. Due to some personal stuff going on ( Life happens!) I've not been able to do much in the way of tutorials lately, but I'll be back soon and will give it a go!
Thank you! I'm happy to help. I was working on a video about the vector editing tools and blow me down, XTool just released an update so I'll have to go back and redo it- but stay tuned!
Hello! Thank you for making this video. Do you know what can be wrong? We got the S1 and the time for autoplanning and user defining is the same time. Kind regards
Have watched and taken lots of notes on the Xtool XCS 2.0. Appreciate the fact that you split up the videos so you could give so much detail. Thank you.
Love the detail in all your videos. Have just finished watching my third on the Xtool Creative Space 2.0. I have the S1 40W and learning as much as I can so I can get started making things. Thank you for making such detailed videos.
Another great video. I really like the fact that you made three because each are very detailed. Also like that you take your time. I am new to lasers and have been taking notes. Subscribed a few minutes ago.
I tried using this software but ending up using Lightburn. Missing an easy way to set kerf and doing measurment of line with tabs an slots, hope this will be there in the final version. But the machine is great, love my S1 40w.
Lightburn is great and the more advanced user will probably grow out of XCS at some point. I switched over to Lightburn almost immediately when I got my D1 because XCS was pretty limited at the start of 2023. I went back to XCS when I got my F1 because Lightburn doesn't really play nicely with the F1 and I was honestly very surprised at how far XCS has come - it's a nice balance of ease of use and design functions, and it's free - my favourite price! I'm also impressed at how XTool seem to be listening to their user requirements and iterating - they continually added features to V1. If there's a demand for more advanced features I'm sure they'll be working to develop them. BTW, I'm not connected with XTool in any way - just a granny with a laser!
I used blue laser, Power 100%, 30mm/s, 260 lpcm, and 2 passes. As always, you should run a test to be sure that your parameters are correct as so many factors can affect the outcome.
I downloaded yesterday 4/6 and it is v 2. So glad you made this timely video. Xtool has guide published but videos are better imo. Used lightburn for a year now, i got real confused on layers in this and controlling output, i like how lightburn dims art that isn’t set to output, just an opinion. Look forward to next video.
i’m getting an xtool f1 for my birthday in may and this is one of the crafts i want to do. your video was detailed and informative but not super long and dragged out for me for being a first time user. THANK YOU!
We have many things in common and iv'e just bought the Xtool M1 and was looking for exactly this :) Your tutorial was spot on and easy to follow so thanks again :)@@DarkMoonEmporium
I just recently got the F1 and noticed the dots did not line up with each other, parallel yes, but not on top of each other. XTool does not have anything about it on their site that I could find, thank you for this video! Now I know my machine arrive not truly setup to work out of the box!
This is what I used - www.amazon.co.uk/Uadme-Laser-Carved-Colored-Paper/dp/B0BML7D5WK/ref=sr_1_5_pp?crid=1SB23K9RVW9JL&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.nQUjjcH3pf74MngxSRA-oe6p-6h14TdYRRjZ-Jt7p-ba1w9Nw6UV872OR48Vfk4XsJglTyIejQ3rx4r_T3dVWi3mqasJJ3v0yNMg3vA8jLLpiANch1EvBauQ67MqyAWtKv-6DG0zX5ygIPH_hAZ_eQ.K87snPYvHeJUIGO8e151BBCYC87dcNa0cBl4ugy1LfI&dib_tag=se&keywords=laser+marking+paper&qid=1705216869&sprefix=laser+marking+paper%2Caps%2C91&sr=8-5
I have a 3d printer, but you make it look so easy to use the F1. I'm waiting on mine to show up and pretty nervous about all the programming and layers, settings, all of it.
Thank you ! I love my F1 and my D1, but I will admit that I was very nervous before I got going so I think I understand how you're feeling. The XCS software is very easy to use and a great place to start.
Is it the most recent version as of December 2023 (1.7) that's causing you concern? This feature was released in V1.6 so you shouldn't need to update beyond that. (Just FYI, I updated firmware and software yesterday with no problems at all using USB - I've had issues with updates over wifi in the past).
