We have been making things since before memories could be formed. Our older siblings introduced us to projects like gratuitous vacuum cleaner disassembly and reassembly, balsa airplanes, remote control cars and planes, and shop. Turns out making things turns into an engineering career when you are old like us. We are here to have a good time and make machines that have never been seen before... aspirationally, somewhat useful machines. And hopefully we can inspire a few young to-be engineers the same way our older siblings inspired us. More engineers = better.
minute 3:39: 1500lbs for the disc alone! the arm itself is probably way way heavier and counts into that force as well. that is a really significant mistake. But the project is amazing! You guys rock!
So what about the fact that once you release the frisbee its no longer balanced. That’s why it was jumping around. You cant balance something then get rid of weight and expect it to stay balanced. Staking it to the ground was the best option
I think you can add another 500 ft. By using one word. Trebuchet. There. The challenge is in your court now. (A properly balanced and designed launcher on this principal will see the whole spinning drive arm come to a complete stop as all the kinetic energy is transferred into the projectile)
