I once bookmarked a nice 1960's Russian group, and wanted to restore the list after my PC HDD died. Try as I might, most results are not Russian - Not Soviet - Not USSR - or even remotely close to what I am searching for. So it was the USSR that was in to Censorship, Propaganda, mind control, and oppressed freedom . . . . . Is that really right, or have we just naively swallowed the tripe we were fed?
