It seemed to be a mix of all kinds of red and copper. My father took me to London when I was a teenager and we were queuing up out side the Tower when some one called to my father from a distance away. It was a neighbour from our home village hundreds of miles away. 'We spottted your Janet's red hair and knew it had to be you.' I could never have got away with anything unless I'd worn a balaclava.
Although I knew he was joking, my father offered a theory as to why I have red hair. He said I was born with "water on the brain" and it's beginning to rust.

Im a red headed man. I was beat up, picked on and made fun of for being a red head growing up. I even had teachers tell me they didn't like boys with red hair. It took me a long time to get my self estimate up.
I was 10 years old in 1973 when Heartbeat/Lovebeat was on the airwaves. My friend who lived across the street had a ginormous crush on Tony. There was am unwritten rule that because she liked him, I wasn't allowed to like him; as if he was meant for her and her only. If I even hinted at liking him, she would give me body language and words that would smite me down. Heartbeat/Lovebeat burned out really fast. I got tired of listening to it 50 times a day on the radio. I had the record, not because I loved the song, but it was #1 and a kid in the 70s as I was possessed #1 records because they were #1. To be honest, I wasn't that crazy about Tony DeFranco. I thought Nino was the cutie. About ten years ago, I saw TDF interviewed on a documentary about teen idols. Wow, as an adult, he is smokin' hot. I thought, what did I miss? Why didn't I pay more attention in 1973?"
