One thing, Kokichi said at one point that Dazai wearing a suit meant he was probably high up because the mafia wouldn't draw that much attention to lower ranked members, but literally _everyone_ in the mafia wears suits 😭the only ones that don't are plot relevant characters, most of which have a higher standing in the mafia compared to grunts and background characters. So it's honestly the opposite.
Love that Dazai easily throws the others off with the help of Kokichi (although unintentional I believe on the gremlins part) but Kokichi is probably the only one not thrown off💀 Bro works with deception too much… Also wanted to mention that I like how even though Kokichi is rather arrogant and knows he is probably smarter than most, he still acknowledges that Dazai is smarter than him, I really like that! Edit; Why’d I write only abt Kokichi💀
YO IT’S DAZAI’S TURNN TIME FOR ME TO ARISE FROM MY SLUMBER!!! You did kokichi right and so far the Dazai reaction seems really good. Here’s a list of stuff I found cool: - Dazai’s constant attempts to trivialize everything and lead everyone in circles, and how that changes as the video goes on. He starts off jokey and slowly transitions, as the videos start to paint in him a worse light, to being subtly mean and then outright antagonizing. He’s the type of person, to me, that abhors the idea of being pitied and vulnerable, because being pitied means being seen as something human and worth caring for. Dazai is constantly code-switching to ensure that the people around him are kept either clueless to his actual personality (acts as a silly jokester and not heavily depressed individual) or literally as an inhuman monster, and we can see that happen in real time here. - You didn’t try to paint Dazai as an innocent guy who just happened to be exploited, like a lot of other gacha reactions do. Dazai is a really complex guy and his actions can’t be boiled down “IT’S ALL MORI’S FAULT!1!1” like a lot of the BSD fandom does. The line “Old enough to decide for myself” literally sucker punched me in the gut because HE WOULDDD oh my god he would. He’s aware of how awful the things he does are yet does them on purpose, to prove that he’s irredeemably inhuman. There’s this quote from Stormbringer that reminded me of this: “Nevertheless, Dazai continued to slaughter his enemies and serve the Port Mafia in order to force himself into an even darker place.” He’s driven by self-loathing. - Dazai wasn’t exempt from being bullied lmao…just a karmic share of comeuppance. I do think a lot of gacha creators underestimate Dazai (my personal opinion is that he could wipe Kokichi and probably every person in the room in terms of intellect) but a little bullying is good for the skin. Also for stabbing Michael, he kinda deserves it. Anyways this is getting long so I may come back later to rant in the replies. Have a nice day pookie <3
One thing I did think though, that I feel is a slight mischaracterization, is Dazai’s shock at Michael towards the end. Dazai himself has probably struggled with his perceived goodness hundreds of times…there isn’t anyone who’s put more thought into his transformation, likely, than Dazai himself. I get it’s played up for the understanding of the viewers and is likely limited to Dazai’s internal world, but that’s my personal two cents. Pretty much the only complaint I have tho ,, I think you did a much better job than most Dazai reactions.
😧 oh boy, me too… I also think that I exaggerated his reaction, but I was worried that without his reaction I wouldn’t have my dramatic ending. Didn’t really like it as well. I’ll give it a reason or tone it down a bit in the next video. Also, thanks for the commentary 😭 im so glad someone noticed the details and progression of his personality, giggling like a little girl right now 👍 good job
