The song is timeless and honours the memory of those who have died in the service and defence of Australia in war.
The song has been used for commemorative purposes across Australia by schools, churches, choirs, bands, councils, retirement homes, military services, RSL branches and ANZAC tributes at NRL & AFL matches.

Lest we forget . Our Anzacs are the true heroes of our nation . I never grow tired of hearing stories and songs about our Australian heroes . They made the ultimate sacrifice so we can have freedom in our country. Lest we forget . ❤
If the Americans had not entered the 2nd world war Germany would have been victorious then you would have had something to worry about that is if you were alive in WW2. In WW1 it was the potential of the US that helped bring on the defeat of Germany.
Not really so. The Australian divisions checked the last great German offensive and then went on to smash through the German lines and pursue them till the end of hostilities. The Americans were factored into these offensives however General Pershing withdrew his troops at the last minute. They later participated in the defeat of the German forces but the breakthrough and victory was achieved by General Sir John Monash and the five divisions of The Australian Corps. History generally downplays the true significance of arguably the greatest general of the war and his absolutely dedicated troops, again regarded by many as the best of the war. The American entry into the war was significant but the outcome would still have been the same. Germany had been bled dry and could never regain the initiative.
In the newspaper, the government would put names down in the newspaper. If someone’s name in the newspaper they HAD to go to the war. They didn’t choose to go, the government MADE them. Their family cried and cried for days. Even if they didn’t choose to go to war, they had to. Some died. So, technically the government killed them. Lest we forget - Australia ❤❤❤❤
