Scrapman Industries started out back in about 2010 off and on, but became official around 2015 or so. we started out doing mostly just scrapping jobs. finding metal and taking it to the recycling yards. To date we have recycled more than 200 tons of material. Then we branched out into other things that didn't work out so well and started focusing on mostly just scrap for awhile then. We now do scrap metal and are trying to get into mobile welding and demolition work. We buy and sell scrap ac compressors in and around Ohio, and will do mobile welding repairs around Ohio and eastern Indiana as well. We specialize in fixing broken farm and construction machinery.

@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries 8 дней назад
It’s freaking awesome. It’s been going strong since 2020. It uses less consumables than my Lincoln 210mp. I just now got to the point where I think it needs a new liner in the mig gun. In Manual mode You can turn it up to the point where it enters spray transfer while running .035 solid wire on 75/25 gas and hooked up to a 110v 20 amp breaker. It doesn’t sputter as bad on the starts either. I also use it to run 7018 and Hobart hard alloy 140s on occasion. It runs both really well. Even the 5/32s. I ran the tig torch at 218 amps for awhile one day and the weak point there was I couldn’t grasp the torch any more. The machine itself never went into the overheating mode.

@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries 22 дня назад
I plugged it in
@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries 22 дня назад
There’s a 10/3 wire we hooked up to the fancy welder style outlet and ran 3 of the wires to a nema 14-30 plug. There’s 2 hots and 2 neutrals I believe or 2 hots a neutral and a ground. One of the neutrals or the ground on the plug end isn’t connected to anything. My dad knows more about electrical than I do. He hooked it up the first time now I just remember what goes where if I have to take it apart or set up a new one.

@@scrapmanindustries appreciate it I got a free stick mate lx235 and I have this generac generator it has 7500 running watts so I figured it’d be enough power but with this Amazon adaptor I got it’s sparking but won’t hold an arc
@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries 20 дней назад
@@damonperea4968 do you have your hot wires hooked up correctly? If that’s all good clean your metal, make sure your welding ground is hooked up and making good contact. If that’s not the issue try new electrodes. If all that is good make sure the generator is pushing out the right amount of volts. Each leg of the 220 v circuit should be pushing out half of that. Do more research like I said I’m no electrician but I believe each hot leg should be pushing 110-115 volts. I had my generator drop voltage over time and the welder wasn’t arcing. Did some trouble shooting, tuned the generator back to the correct voltage and it worked fine.
@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries 20 дней назад
I also try really hard not to support Amazon. A lot of what the sell anymore is garbage right out of the box. I’m not saying your adapter is bad but if it is serviceable make sure it’s hooked up correctly.

would you recommend this as a welding student who wants to practice stick (but mostly tig but alas) and occasionally use it to repair something around the house/car work and maybe even get a little side gig with it im torn between the fronius and a primeweld tig325x and primeweld mig285
@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries Месяц назад
if you are looking to do conventional tig with a foot pedal than the fronius trans pocket is not the machine for you. most fronius machines use hand controls or lift arc with a scratch start tig rig setup. if you are looking for mostly tig you would want either the tig package of this machine, the transtig, or the magic wave/Iwave machines. if you are not a brand loyalist I would highly recommend looking into the HTP Invertig 221 or 250. I have the Invertig 221 that I bought used recently for less than what you would pay for that prime weld. if you are trying to tig weld aluminum than you will really not want this machine or the fronius transtig machines. the magic wave is a beast but they are hard to find used and cost about $5-6k with a water cooler. hence the reason I got a used HTP. This machine can and will Tig weld but it is different than your conventional tig set up. the tig that this machine does uses a torch that you connect to your stick stinger and and air line with straight argon. the air control is a manual valve on the torch body itself. you start and stop the arc similar to the way you would when stick welding. its good for working in factories or refineries and places where you can't use a foot pedal, like where I'm working currently trying to weld stainless safety gates standing one footed on the top of a 12' tall Aframe ladder. a foot pedal would be in the way and unusable so scratch start or lift arc tig is the way to go. if your trying to practice tig like that than yes this machine would be good for you but otherwise get one with a foot pedal and AC otherwise you'll be pretty frustrated and end up regretting your purchase. how ever if you are trying to get it mostly for stick welding and the tig welding is just a side thought for when your standing one footed on a ladder trying to weld some stainless than yes this machine is an excellent choice. for stick welding this thing is super smooth and portable. this is my go to stick welder. I've burned over 100lbs of 6010 and over 200 lbs of 7018 with this thing. it even burned some 309 stainless tig rods the other night. I passed my d1.1 vertical up groove weld test on 1" plate with this machine.

Biggest nightmare in welding for me is thin materials, keep chasing holes, hopefully when I get used to the pulse setting that won't happen. Question is, say you have 1mm material, using 1/16" rods, what current and pulse settings work best? I just got a transpocket 150A, impressed by the arc stability, very smooth even with 6011.
@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries Месяц назад
not sure the last time I tried running 1/16" rods was when the Hobart stickmate was my only option as far as welding machines go. never got em to work correctly. Do you ever run MIG or self shield flux core? usually stuff that is as thing as that you will want to tig weld or sometimes mig weld it. you can run tig with any stick welder. if you get a torch similar to the heavy hitters tig rig with a manual air valve on the torch. or the fronius machines have their own torch that should work with any trans steel unit and some of the trans pocket units have the tig option. if you don't have the tig package already installed on your trans pocket you would have to run a scratch start set up. but put the machine in tig mode and it becomes lift arc. if you run a scratch start set up on a fronius with the tig package you either have to be smarter than me or run in stick mode because the tig mode is always waiting for you to press the button and make it hot.
@engjds
@engjds Месяц назад
@@scrapmanindustries Knew you would help, thanks my friend. Yeah, I am pretty new to welding, but have tried out Mig and got decent results and also flux core, they seem easy after stick tbh, I asked because if I get this welding repair thing going, it would be nice to do everything on the transpocket with it being so portable. I have the argon waiting for Tig, but I have been holding off until I feel I have fully mastered stick and mig first, my TP unit does not have the tig package, but I do have it on my transteel 2200mv along with the Fronius torch-one I wish to keep at home.

@@scrapmanindustries Slightly off subject, but I want a silent compressor too, something that can be used for plasma cutting or arc gouging and maybe odd air tool usage, but I am unsure how large a tank I will need (25L, 50L, 100L?) or the minimum CFM, what do you use mate?
@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries Месяц назад
@@engjds my compressor has made in into some of my earlier video back in the scrap metal processing days. I would not recommend that one for gouging. or even plasma really. mine is too small for gouging and just barely big enough to handle intermittent plasma. I made it work for gouging once on a small dozer repair that I did. I think I filmed that set up. I could only gouge for a few minutes then wait a really long time for the compressor to build up air. I don't care about mine, it already survived a car fire when I torched my 98 Tacoma. the compressor owes me nothing and the tank is actually so old it's about to need replaced anyway. You can get by with one of them 15hp wheel barrow compressors but most guys will run a big 30 gallon 25 hp or more compressor unless they have a screw type compressor either on the truck or in the welder. I think you need like 22cfh or so to gouge pretty much non-stop. my compressor has about 4cfh. when you start needing air in that volume it will not be silent. the quietest ones as far as I know are the screw type packs that run off your trucks hydraulics but they also cost an arm and a leg. for the shop most guys will get at least an 80 gallon compressor of some sorts and put it either outside or in its own room. I'm not at that level yet. Usually when I do have to carbon arc gouge there's usually a bigger compressor than mine sitting near by. I'll just hook up to that. I have no clue what size it is but we had two blow guns zip tied open for about a month and it wasn't that noticeable of a difference. that was at a factory though.

Why did you go for the old Lincoln instead of just running your TS2200 with a generator? Also, for someone starting up a welding repair business, what tools do you recommend besides welder/generator, grinder, clamp mate?
@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries Месяц назад
I can get into that second part when I have more time tomorrow but the Lincoln lives on the truck. The Lincoln and fronius trans pocket are on my truck all the time. The trans steel is set up in my shop. It comes with me sometimes but mostly I’ll use the Lincoln. The only reason I bought the Lincoln was because at the time I bought the fronius my biggest machine was an even older Lincoln 180 Home Depot. I bought the fronius but it was gonna take a few weeks to arrive. So i also bought the 210mp Lincoln because I was hitting the duty cycle on the small machine 3 times in one stair build.
@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries Месяц назад
I might have misunderstood your question. If you were talking about the big old sa200 I was using vs the trans pocket it’s one of those things where I could have used any machine that I own which usually is the trans pocket. I just felt like using the big Lincoln on that particular day. They are some of the smoothest machines out there, they sound cool as hell and I keep it around for big jobs and gouging. Sometimes I’ll run it just to run it. It’s kinda like when people take their antique cars out for a ride. The big Lincoln’s are addicting to me.
@engjds
@engjds Месяц назад
@@scrapmanindustries Yeah they are pretty cool, I take it they can output 200A, but you say they can also arc-gouge as well?! do you need seperate compressor for that mate?
@engjds
@engjds Месяц назад
@@scrapmanindustries Ha, I see, I want a arc gouging setup, but without a generator welder, I do not believe there is a solution if you just have a 240v single phase suppy?
@scrapmanindustries
@scrapmanindustries Месяц назад
@@engjds the Sa200 puts out 300 amps or so depending on how it’s tuned. You do need an air compressor to gouge. So for mobile work starting out it really depends on the type of work you do. I started out without hardly anything then slowly got more stuff. If you watch some of the older videos where I was messing around with a white Hobart stick mate that is pretty much where I started from. Then when I really went into this full time I had a generator a stick welder, mig welder, 5 grinders. 3 small ones 2 big ones, some torch’s on my trailer, the sa200, some hammers. (I like bigger hammers and splitting mauls in case you haven’t seen my older scrap metal stuff) extension cords, some levels, a variety of hand tools and a battery drill and impact driver. I got on a big stair job almost right off the bat and then realized I needed an impact wrench, SDS concrete drill, some framing squares, saw horses, and some other random stuff here and there. I would recommend getting a papr system like mine as soon as you can. I put it off for too long. A shovel, broom and leaf blower go a long way as well. Start with any job you can get that is within your skill set. Don’t think you need everything to start. I was running around with an older f250 when I first started full time. It made some appearances on the channel. You can see the progression to where I’m at now. It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t over night. Also the most important tool you can carry around is a stocked cooler and the ability to push through the difficult times. Those two things are more important than any tool on the truck. There will be times you will be in the middle of the worst job you’ve ever seen, knowing you totally underbid it, your covered in sweat, blood, and cow crap. It’s easy to throw a temper tantrum and find every excuse to quit, but you gotta have the drive to keep pushing. That is your most important tool in life I guess.
