I work about 150 shows as a soundperson for decades. Have never been more Humbled and Thrilled For Any other Band. Was lucky enough to work 3 shows in Santa Cruz, Ca,& and take the band to our Farmers Markets. I worked every "name" band in those days, but Johnny/ Savuka was the highlight of this Life.Sore hands bloody down.
Cc What happened to the diamonds in your eyes What happened to the hunger for the day's chase? What happened to the electric smile That danced across your face We used to talk about changing the world Now all you want to do is change your name Come on baby don't surrender now To the empty heart of these days We used to talk so deep into the night You had the heart of a wild horse running You bared your soul to me And we both knew these days were coming
JC is The Bomb. I miss him so much. As a stage tech, have tech’d him 3 times. Savuka is the best f’n band i’ve ever seen live. (And am a 100+show Deadhead!) He is the apex to which every band should aspire.Love him so much. Miss you, JC. ✨The bagpipe intro on this is absolutely tits.
Perhaps influenced/inspired by 51 Days "Paper Moon" (or visa - versa) as both surfaced around '94 - '95 . Both are TOP NOTCH - BRILLIANT , DEEP & WICKED {<•∆•>}
The title track of the album Peddlin MUsic On The Side, Lamont is ably backed by the Waters sisters on vocals, another Soul music scorcher from a rather excellent albun of Passionate vocals & great musicianship
Missed his Jo’burg Final Journey concerts and regret it so much. It’s crazy to feel so heartsore about the passing of someone I’ve only seen perform live, but never met. I only realize now how familiar some of the ‘less familiar’ songs actually are and have really grown to like this one so much. Miss you Johnny Clegg! Gone but never forgotten and always in our hearts ❤️❤️
