I looked up the addresses of 551-553 Randolph St. N.W. Washington DC and the only thing that changed was the tree is gone and power poles have taken their place. Even the gothic brick building on the left is there.

6:21...Surprised to see wheels on those excavators, now they have tracks, like military tanks. Makes for a larger footprint, less apt to get stuck. 7:11... Very emotional...to say the least. 🙏❤☺

These videos are fabulous ! I don't know where you get all these photographs, but they are fascinating to see. Quite humbling too, to see how we live today, and how they 'managed' then - amazing, but they knew no different. The length of these videos is perfect, and the music suits too. Thank you so much for your time making the content for us. Take care. Michael in England.

JAX was beer brewed in Jacksonville, Florida, from 1913 to 1956 (the years of Prohibition excluded, of course). Wikipedia purports that they pivoted to cold storage, Ice Cream, and soft drinks like root beer and ginger ale, during the Dry Years. They went back to beer, as soon as they could.

Love the old-time photo at 1:31 showing a general view of the Glazier Stove Company in Chelsea, Michigan. Always left with a nice warm feeling when I view historic photos at The Time Then. It is therapeutic, sort of like sitting by an old wood stove on a bitterly cold winter`s day.

3:15 Crawford Street Bridge in Providence has been redesigned/replaced over the years so it is not recognizable from this photo, HOWEVER the tallest building in this photo, with windows on the curved corner, still stands beautifully today. 6:45 Charleston Orphan House. Built in 1790 it was the first public orphanage in the United States. The building, at the time on Calhoun Street, was demolished to build a Sears, Roebuck Store in 1956.

.58...This reminds me of an early American prison. The guard house was in the center, giving them full view of all the cells. 2:12...Im glad i wasnt one of the guys who worked buulding that railway. I have 2nd thoughts even riding on that train. 2:41..Hard to tell from here, but theres a restaurant un the French Quarter called "Cafe Du Monde". Famous for their beignets & coffee. Coffee has chicory in it. Great food anywhere in that city. Also home of Mardi Gras. 4:25..We can see some soldiers there, but cant tell if theyre Yanks or Rebs. 7:04..Those wooden boxes/crates are just the right size for LP records. Youngsters wont know what im talking about. 🙏❤☺

Twenty-eight totally terrific photos and it`s almost impossible to pick one over the other. But if I had to pick my favourite, it would be the photo at 1:30 showing an old-time scene at the National Fruit Company. The Time Then, of course is the top banana when it comes to historic photos on RU-vid.

Bombay Bar at 3:45 - I likely couldn't afford to go in far enough to take that picture. Sawmill town at 3:28 reminds me of the sawmill song: "heaven help a poor boy, never seen a dollar bill!" Another great collection, and I enjoy the reflective, pensive tone of the background music; goes well with the photos. Thanks for posting!

Why is it that only the sellers of fish are called "mongers"? I, for one, wouldn't mind being called an art monger.
