In Norway we have an award called “The Golden Barbie” which highlights companies, influencers, organisations, or media outlets that are a negative influence, especially on young people. Brandy Melville won the award in 2022. The brand has been criticised for promoting unrealistic beauty standards, and despite the criticism, they haven’t changed anything. There have also been allegations of poor working conditions and racism in the workplace, which is worrying. In my opinion, we should boycott Brandy Melville and support other stores instead. It would also be great if more people with a lot of followers brought this up<3
i always feel lowkey shameful when i order from brandy because i'm sure they're all made by poorly paid immigrants in italy, but the quality is unmatched... i would legitimately pay much higher prices for the pieces if they were made sustainably because the look and fit is unreallllll
