Back in the days when you actually had to drive the car not like today with auto gearboxes and all push button controls. With today's racers you might as well just watch a video game 'cause that what it is . Graham Hill was a real racer, not like today's pussy whipped kids who couldn't drive a stick shift if their lives depended on it!

I saw Hill at Watkins Glen in ‘73 and ‘74. Back in the day, you could get paddock passes, anybody could get paddock passes. Near the Kendall Tech Center, Hill coasted in silently. He removed his helmet and stood up in his car. I knew then and there what a WWII British fighter pilot must have looked like.

Thanks ‘Waltencir Junior’ Outstanding motorcycle documentary. I am a septuagenerian double TKR (double knee replacement, with infection survivor) After four years of orthopedic ‘carpentry’ in Sweden and here in Thailand; from wheel chair, crutches to a MOTORCYCLE! In 2022, My first bike a ex Brit Bike, today built in India: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 single cylinder ‘thumper’. 40,000 km all over Thailand was enough. Those nasty vibrations! Today I am riding Japanese Kawasaki Vulcan 650. Purchased Dec 2023. Greetings from sunny tropical THAILAND. Khlong Nam Lai village, northern Thai hinterland. 380 km from Bangkok.

54:54 I was fortunate to see Jim Clark compete at the 1964 Indy 500 where he took the pole and was pulling away until a mechanical failure put him out. Seeing Graham competing heads up with Jim was incredibly amazing. His comeback was inspiring and Damon’s mastering the F1 title is a fitting tribute to the family’s racing heritage. Thank you Damon for being a class act like your Father and your Mom! 54:54

there is a tendency to forget just how quick Jackie was, and how in his first F1 year just how successful he was, anyone who finishes 2nd to Jimmy at the old Spa in the wet is someone extremely special

what an absolutely brilliant film of this tragic season , for sure the makers could not have forseen the events unfolding as they embarked on the project , i was quite young in `73 but certainly recall the roger williamson incident on the news . my earliest f1 memories was of the very short lived high wing cars but 70s was such a decade of F1 changes fully brought on by the latest technolgy & truly innovative design

What is it that makes you win? In the starkest terms, you first weed out the playing field until only the best remain. From a thousand to twenty-five, perhaps forty. Then you force the best to find their starting position by lap time. Then the very best rise to the top in the first ten or so positions. Finally, the race begins. Those at the very front experience the fear of the rabbit being hunted. They know that a great horde of predators are behind them, and any loss of concentration could cost them the race or worse, cost them their lives. I believe its being able to dance with fear, all great sports have the life and death struggle under the surface, with great rewards for the victors. But certainly, racing in the days of Graham Hill was gambling with the Devil...

The most ironic thing about Graham and Damon is they had success but only after Jim Clark and senna died. That begs the question, Were they really that good? I'm just playing the devil's advocate. I'm not trying to make less out of either man's skills as a driver. But you have to ask that question if you gonna rate them both
@craigyirush3492

But Hill won the world championship before Clark died. Maybe try getting your facts straight before asking questions like this. Of course, your one about Damon is equally ill founded considering he had to beat Michael Schumacher in his prime to win (just as hard as beating Senna arguably).

in 1962 with the same car, are you sure Bruce McLaren would have been worse than Clark by only 3 points ? i say no. probably Bruce McLaren do not believe in F1, he prefere also, and dispersed his physical and financial energies playing a dual role as driver and manager and on two fronts, European and American !!! the real phenomenon was him.
