Looks pretty good. The problem with the Rolex design and the after markets is that the short side of strap sits a little straight and doesn't curve around to hug the wrist properly. The Oris rubbers thread through the clasp on both sides forcing the strap to curve properly. Then again. No one makes the rubber straps like Oris does. Although the Blancpain and IWC don't do that bad a job on the straps. You would think that Rolex and other brands would learn something from their designs.
@@oldenglish91 You don't know what WTF means? Or maybe I should have used quotes on your statement. Either way, let me be clear. This is a modern watch, it's not a Breguet grandfather's watch. The numerals are just fine. I have this exact watch, but with the rubber, canvas-look strap, and my humble opinion is that it is gorgeous.
They changed since I got mine. Mine came with leather and I asked for them to “throw in” the kevlar which they did. The AD may be able to give it to you for free or at a nice discount but when I got mine people were still trashing the code so it was easier for me to get the strap for free from AD. I am actually selling my brown leather strap now on Ebay if interested for real cheap.
I picked up this model a couple of days ago - with the rubber strap (yes, it's rubber, looks like sailcloth). It is so beautiful, and I agree with you - the gold hue is wonderful. Why would you buy a Calatrava over this?
Not going to get me to outright diss Calatrava. But for an every day watch on leather, the 11.59 has that wow factor. The Calatrava is understated elegance.
I tried multiple Code models but at the end went for this exact same reference. The combination of RG and blue dial is stunning. How is the time accuracy of yours? I have mine for several months and it is always running fast, sometimes it can be up to 20sec in the space of 3/4 days.
I really like the design. I would rather something from an independent for that price, but if I had to pick a big brand I’d choose something like this.
I think they did everything right with this one. It looks like a toy, let us admit it. But it looks good, and the fact that it is different is something which could be fun to talk about.
Is it ok to have relationships with different boutiques? I also live in NY metro and been only dealing with NYC. Always thought that my SA would think im “cheating” on him if i go to Manhaset. May be a good idea to diversify the relationship?
I agree with you. The watch has a lot of presence due to the bold colors. Luckily I had an opportunity to try both at my local AD. Even though 41 looked a hair better on my 7.25 wrist, my choice was OP36 with yellow dial. This is now my everyday watch, in parallel with Explorer 36mm. Thank you for the review.
I got this same set up, lovethe everyday sportier feel and look, love the red inner strap and option to use clasp, with a certain tool you can change to the reg strap for a fancier look I guess
OMG That's what I've been asking myself "Is there room for both of these watches in the same collection" 2:50 That's a very legitimate question. I've been debating whether to get a date only version since I already have the chronograph. Like, if I have a date only, will there be days I'll want to wear it over my chrono and vice versa. Or it would just feel the same.
When i choose btw my two, there is nothing about either one that says to me I should pick this one over the other. if you have an opportunity to pick it up at retail, it would be dumb not too considering how much implicit equity you would achieve. If paying the market value - than I would probably spend my money on something a little more different considering you already have chrono.
Great Watch, i called the Boutique in Frankfurt for this one. I might get one soon. But i like the other strap more. I really think this watch will be the next Gamechanger. And honestly, with this watch u wont burn your Money, because its AP.
Thanks:)🙏 How long is your circumference of wrist (cm)? I confused because of extension link..ㅜㅜ Between 5/7 or L size😮💨😮💨 i want to do it like you(except extension link)
Amazing watch. Looks great on the rubber too. I am always a big fan of watches on rubber but I am also a big fan of the oyster bracelet. I recently picked ii an OP 41 green and I’m planning to throw it on a green rubber B strap.
I certainly would not say its “average” but its not for everyone. I have some nitpicks of my own. I do think the MSRP is too high however. The watch would have a lot more success priced in low 20s but its too late for that.
It's a beautiful piece. A bit of red on that bezel between 12 and 3 would really have set it off. But still a more imposing big brother to the Sub. Perfect size and wrist presence. I think they will sky rocket one day and become more apreciated for being a better watch than most.
I would leave them alone bro. You got the pinnacle of both models both with blue dials. Money-wise they are both worth pretty much the same and going up in value. Since you seem to be well off, what I would do is to add a gold piece if you can, if you haven’t done so already. Maybe something like the 15500OR or the gold chrono. Can’t go wrong with either of them. Coincidentally, I’m actually buying the 15500ST with the grey dial. It’s my second favorite after the blue one. Also, It’s my first AP so I’m pretty excited about it. We’ll see what else can I add to the collection next year.
This is nicer than Breguet … but you can’t compare this to let’s say classique which has the enamel dial and costs 16k euro on chrono new … different pricing.
Going to have to disagree on thr smaller size. I know watchbox pushes it and it makes sense for smaller wristed people but it just does not feel like a mans watch on my wrist. In fact when I tested it out at AP the bracelet was not even big enough to get around my average wrist size of 7.25”
I'm a huge fan of the rubber strap, but not when it's a $15K option over Oystersteel from Rolex. Thinking about Getting a Hulk and doing this with the Green wristband they offer. I usually daily drive my Date 41 Jubilee, which is incredibly comfortable, but sometimes I want something a little less flashy. Thinking this might do it, without spending $35K on a Oysterflex Yacht or Sky-Dweller.
Absolutely amazing collection! Just picked up my new code 11.59 chronograph with the same blue dial as yours and im in love with it! Ppl dont get how amazing the code 11.59 is in person, I was completely enchanted!
Great video! The code 11.59 looks amazing and you have an awesome AP collection. How do you feel the Code 11.59 is for more casual wear like jeans and t shirt in your opinion? I think with the case sizes of 41 and 42 mm are a lot more versatile than the AP ROO chrono models, and I really like the rubber and leather straps that can go with the AP code models. I have two AP ROO watches but have never been able to see a code 11.59 in person as there is no boutique even close to me unfortunately so thanks for doing these videos.
Thanks for kind words. I would say the Code dresses up much better than ROOs dress down. There is no doubt the Code is more versatile than ROOs. The code with t-shirt and jeans would look really sharp. However for that really relaxed casual look, there is not much cooler than an ROO.
