Great message from 4 years ago. I'm preaching on these verses this Sunday and plan to focus on what defiles a person, but this focus on the heart is really great!
There is much support for the sons of God being fallen angels. 1 Peter 3:18-20 describes when Jesus died and went to the spirit prison and "proclaimed to the spirits in prison". It then goes on to describe how those spirits did not obey in the days of Noah. The oldest Old Testament book outside of the Pentatuch is Job and there it clearly refers to sons of God as angels. Biblically speaking, they are fallen angels. Furthermore, there is no explanation as to why "there were giants in those days" if sons of God were simply men. Why would the offspring of men become giants? It makes more sense when viewed through the fallen angels theory.
Thank you! A very full and challenging message that we all need sometimes. No matter how much we can *know* we should trust God, we don’t always do it, and we don’t always do it in full. Very important that we are honest with ourselves and honest with God about places where we doubt and ask God to help us be stable in our ways, trusting fully, not needing anything more than knowing God is who He is. Like you said Pastor, He is worthy of our trust, all on His own. Thank you!
Thank you pastor, that was a masterful sermon focusing on the eternal truths of God's word and rejecting the distractions that malign and distort the simplicity of scripture. God always provides a way, but He will not strive with carnality forever. God Bless
I can see part of my son's life in Pastor Rich service but with the difference that I couldn't make my son turn to Jesus completely. At the end he felt empty and was to late for restoration.
