Beyond beautiful. This orchestra understands Beethoven. The horn section is finally allowed to play outright. The Bass and Celli keep the entire life of this concerto--which might also have been another symphony, given the fabulous musical ideas herein. The soloist's job is to rip us a new Beethovinian "heart." He does so here, for sure. Bravo!
He is gifted, but not great. It just goes to show what passes for greatness now. Those who are ready to crown him the best have not heard the greats, unfortunately.
Magnifique concert qui ne manque pas de panache ,charme .Bel orchestration et le violoniste Augustin Hadelich ,un talent incroyable.Merci à tous 🎻👏👏♥️🧑🎤
Oh! so romantic, polite, graceful Beethoven it is. Yeah, beautiful, hit a new high. I hear there has still not been great music as like as Beethoven Violin Concerto among every music in the world since 18 century. Of cause that's depend on how to play it though. Occasionally I would love to hear Josepf Szigeti with Rondon Symphony Orchestra conducted by Antal Dorati. Szigeti sound like metaphysical style, ROS also, yeah, not be prepossessed by original score, by his and their improvise impulse.(91yrs.Japanese)sorry strange English.
Probably the best version I ever heard. It is so clean and intimate, for example in the second movement, but still with the right power when it is needed. Thank you for great playing, Augustin Hadelich!
Most violinist (and I'm talking the best in the world), when they play this concerto, it sounds like a bunch of scales. With Augustin, however, it sounds like music. At 24:00, right after the double stop, watch how he strikes the low note. And he does it again at 24:05. That is old-school Heifetz style playing. I suppose the difference is with Augustin, and the rest of the violin word, he knows what make the violin sound good, how to make it speak, and how to make music for crying out loud. So many musicians are so far stuck up their you know what, running around here talking about respecting the composer that they totally forget how to actually make music. They all sound like robots. And this concerto is notorious fickle. Even if you play it in tune it still sounds out of tune. Yet, Augustin has found a way to finesse it so it sounds so simple, logical and actually pleasant to listen to. Bravo - AGAIN. He is really killing it, one concerto after the next.
I see Kogan live play this concerto , and now on RU-vid i can hear Oistrakh , and I think Hagelich is one of the best now for sensibility , but Oistrakh is "imprevedibile".
