The Czechoslovakians were beginning to accept German rule and had just delivered the German Wehrmacht a hospital train. Accepting German rule may have led to output from the huge Skoda factories, the biggest in Europe, and increased German military production. The assassination of Heydrich sent the Nazis into destroying any chance the people would accept their rule and the military output from the Skoda factories was minimal aided by Herman Göering’s brother Albert who oversaw sabotage and time wasting.

Heydrich was so arrogant and confident in his grip of power over the Czech public, that he refused to have an armed convoy that day,.and in a convertible car. An amazing hit job from those brave Czechs, but it cost the Czechs dearly - with hundreds killed in retaliation. Heydrich certainly was an evil Nazi, and maybe a successor to Hitler down the line.
Fun fact. The original mercedes car is at a private museum in Denmark. owned by multimillionaire Ole Falck. It has been restored but the damages is still visible. Who knows what this historical piece is worth
