The gold wing does provide a place to lock your helmet to the bike. And I am able to squish my leather jacket into the side compartment and lock that up. But. Most often I park nearby where I can see the bike, and leave my helmet and jacket sitting on top. Like when at lunch. Thanks for your question. Stay safe.
Yes I try to just focus on what I like about the bike and some mods I added. There are a ton of more specific reviews on RU-vid that cover the more technical specifics. Thanks for your feedback. Stay safe.
My friend, I have to point out how impressed I am with the fact that, the very first thing you did, was blow that red light at the very beginning of ride 😂👍 Nice review… Hope to get one very soon.
Great to hear from you! Yes the new grips are perfect for hand fatigue. I still battle with white knuckle syndrome. Where while the larger grips did help I still grip it too tight. I work on relaxing my grip every ride. I agree sport mode is crazy fun and demands max concentration 😀 Take care man Ride safe
You are living the good life and that is what retirement is all about. The WIng will keep you young. I love my 2023 bagger DCT and I hope I can keep on it until at least 80 like a gent I met riding an old gen Wing at Mt Wachusett. Ride safe and often.
Nice ride, great scenery and very good sound and video. While riding my new bagger DCT last year I noticed hand cramping due to the small grip size. I had the same issue with my 2016 KTM1290 SA so I bought some sharkskin grip puppies that worked great. But for the Wing I wanted something that looked good so I got myself the same goldstrike grips for Christmas that you have . They look great on your bike and now I'm happy I got them. We still have cold weather up here in the northeast but when it warms up I'm putting them on. That sport mode is ferocious and I only use it sparingly. Ride safe and often!
Used to live in SoCal, miss the weather and geography not the prices or the politics but this was a good video to "feel" the Goldwing on familiar roads.
Yes. For me it was a big improvement for 2 reasons. Much better wind protection. And so much easier to keep clean because it doesn’t scratch. Now I can see how most people would be fine with the stock shield. I am extra bothered by wind. It makes me feel less control. If you are at all uncomfortable now, I wouldn’t hesitate to get a shield with more coverage. I am happy with the F4, but I would think there are others just as great. Stay safe!
Thanks! Great to hear from you! Hope to visit your part of the world some day. I have been busy golfing. Will get some more videos up at some point. Stay safe !
I love my 2023 Goldwing. I got it almost 10 months ago, and I've ridden over 13,000 miles on it. The DCT is a bit quirky and takes a bit of getting used to when stopping at a light. (It jerks a bit when downshifting.) I always ride in manual mode, so I can decide when to shift gears. This will be the last bike I'll ever own.
Yes! What an amazing ride I agree! About the jerky down shifting. I don’t feel that. It seems pretty smooth. Have you tried doing the steps to calibrate the DCT? Maybe that will help. In any event I too won’t be riding anything else 😊 Stay safe!
Yes. I actually use Apple car play a lot. The navigation is much better and music options are excellent. The one quirk is that I have to disconnect then re connect the cable to my iPhone after shutting off the bike, then starting it up again. Else it won’t provide Apple car play as an option on the bikes display.
Love your video. I’ve been debating getting either a DCT Wing or a manual, but after watching this I think the DCT is the way to go. What brand of after-market windshield did you get? It looks like it might be a big improvement over the smaller OEM unit. Thanks much!
ThAnks for your support. I have the F4 customs windshield. It’s the 20 inch wide clear version. The extra width is great. Plus it can be cleaned with a wet cloth. It won’t scratch. You will love the DCT. !
So it only holds for a few seconds when you release the brake lever, but to stay put on a hill you have to continually hold the front brake lever- like most bikes. Other bikes with Hill Assist you squeeze the lever once and let go and the brakes hold till you accelerate. BMW RT has this on the newer bikes.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes. In all the research I have done it supports your view. Time and practice. I have noticed I am getting better. DCT requires that nice touch between foot brake and throttle. And trust to lean the bike at slow speeds. It’s a work in progress 😀. Stay safe !
Good question. In using paddle shifters on cars , it was not expected to let off gas between shifting. Same with automatic transmissions. So I just expected the same from the DCT. Though I did back off the throttle when going at it hard. I was worried of red lining it.
10:35 That’s exactly what I told my daughter when I gave her my old bike. Ride like you’re invisible! Some people simply don’t register motorcycles when they drive.
Hmmm. Could be this. When I upload to RU-vid it first processes the standard definition version. And makes that public. Then it takes another hour or so to process the high definition version. So. Try waiting a couple hours after notification so you can view the higher quality version. Let me know if that works. Thanks !
Long time again no vdos ? Just thought about you and your bike as I woke up for the morning...an hour ago !! Was happily surprised to see you in my notifications 👍
I watched your vlog’s for a long time and enjoyed then all, i had a 2006 gold wing a I loved it. I had lost my legs so all I do is enjoy your videos thank you and your bike is bitchin. Thanks again
So great to hear from you! It is like a family here with all of us sharing a common love for Gold Wings and motorcycles in general. Thank you SO much for your kind words!
Subscribed a while back because you seem to be a genuine guy with a nice point of view and great attitude, without any of the petty complaints most RU-vidr GoldWing owners have. At least, the ones I've seen videos of. Thanks a lot for the ride, amigo. Appreciate it. Warm greetings from Belgium.
Thanks for your kind comments. I enjoy hearing your thoughts. It's most awesome to share thoughts about such an epic motorcycle 😀 we have a fun group of RU-vidrs here. Stay safe !
Nice ride! How's your tail rack? Can you hold a decent sized bag on it? Are tie-downs fairly secure/solid? Slow turns / uturns.....practice practice practice!!! 😊 Greg on Motojitsu is the best guy to learn from! Find yourself an empty parking lot and practice in-between parking lines!
Yes. The tie downs have been excellent. It can hold quite large stuff. I have a variety of different tie down bungie cables of different lengths. It works great very secure. Yes. You are correct about both, practice, and MotoJitsu! Stay Safe!
When you get on your bike…. Do you step onto the peg and then swing your leg over or do you swing your leg over while flat-footed on the ground? I have a low-rider Harley and want a touring bike…. but I have a really bad hip.
Try getting on the high side footboard. It's better for you, giving much more clearance to lift your foot over the seat. Watch how motor officers get on their motors. I only board my bike on the high side ever since I saw that.
@@gmbmesa to be honest… I never thought foot-boards were built to handle a guys entire weight. I’ve always thought they were there just to rest your feet on. I have never once stood on the foot boards of my Harley.
In one of your videos you talk about an option that will allow you to adjust the handlebars on a Gold Wing. Do you mind giving me the name of the company that makes that? Many thanks! Love your videos...especially "hang on tight". :)
Wanted to let you know this video convinced me to get a new Goldwing DCT. I had a 2015 40th year anniversary model. It was a very good bike but arthritis in my hands made it difficult to clutch. I love my DCT! It is absolutely awesome. It is not a sport touring bike. It is a touring crotch rocket. It is amazing how such a heavy bike can be so quick. Thank you for your video!!
Thanks for your comments! Hey. I have some arthritic pain. I started taking collagen everyday. It has really helped relive the joint pain, and I am more flexible too. Yes, this bike is a touring crotch rocket! 😊
