What i dont like is they sell online and keep alot, mostly all the good stuff they keep and we never see it in the store anymore, we get no bagies or jewery
It does have to do with resellers goodwill sees them buying cheap and making bank so they want to do the same. Yet resellers complain about. Already cheap prices at garage sales but then sell things at very high prices think about it not fare is it
Why is it goodwills business where the product goes once its sold? And no, im not in resale. They up their prices because they want to make more money off of anyone that comes through the door..
This is my question if it's too much for the resellers it's going to be too much for the average Joe ! It also bugs me when they ask for additional donations at checkout.....
@@theresaward206 actually in most cases it’s not. Because they are selling at market value. Resellers purchase stuff cheap and then resell it at market value. That is the difference and you will see a lot of resellers say if I was just buying this for myself, it’s a great price, but to make any profit off of it it’s just too high.
@@theresaward206 what gets me , I can have yard sale and ¢ 50 on something.. no one will buy it! , I donate it to GW .all of a sudden it's worth 7.99 and someone WILL buy it for that! WTH. PEOPLE???
I don't know about other places but down here in South Florida the Goodwills are ridiculously high price I always thought Goodwills were for low income people to get clothing but not down here all you see are new cars in the parking lot no deals for the low income people we've had a young guy got caught that are Goodwill helping a low income family with children on prices on their clothing at the store he was fired I have not been to a Goodwill since too many other thrift stores more deserving
@@candacebradshaw2315 the original intent of Goodwill was to take donations that you get a tax write off for doing and then resell them at a low price to anyone so that the money can be used to fund a training for low income and people that are struggling to get a job. And if they would have stuck with their original model, there would be a lot less things they get thrown away and end up in the landfills because their prices are too high and people aren’t buying like they used to.
And just so you know, savers is not a nonprofit. It is a for profit business so they are even worse than Goodwill because they accept donations and turn around and resell it just for profit. There are no nonprofits benefiting from their sales. I choose not to shop at savers or around here it is called value Village.
I'm much more particular about what I purchase at GW now. I have to really want the item & know it's usefulness to me. Plus, I donate now to smaller area thrift stores, not GW.
If GW would go back to asking reasonable thrift prices like they used to, they would sell more. It's not the resellers - it's corporate greed. I hate to see things at double the price they should be - nobody will buy - and the items will end up broken and useless at the bins. So sad.
Or worse, yet they end up in the landfills which if you think about it, the people who donated to Goodwill to begin with we’re trying to avoid that situation. This country is so greedy.
@@catherinewhitman8333 I can see that, but that is not Goodwill‘s mission. They receive everything for free so anything that they get for it is profit that they can use to help other people, pay their employees, etc. businesses have to buy their at wholesale and then they turn around and sell it for retail. My being a reseller is just like any other small business and should not be punished or looked down on. Thanks for your comment!
@@CathiesCuratingLife have you worked there??? I worked at 4 different GW IN 4 DIFFERENT STATES! I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT....I GO TO STAFF MEETINGS...YOU DON'T!
@@tactical_cat exactly, and that is the biggest problem with Goodwill culling the best items and then selling them online like other resellers do. It’s really not fair because they are getting those items for free and as resellers that is part of our cost of doing business is to purchase these items. They need to get back to their original model and use the money like they do for training people that need help getting a job and quit lining the pockets of their greedy executives!
That shouldn't matter to this cooperation. They get their inventory for FREE! The End! It doesn't matter what I do with the item after I purchase it. Goodwill is now ONLY about profit and NOT for the people who need USED items instead of brand new items.
@@8gagee and the truth is, I recently spent a year in a very impoverished area where the biggest store in town is Walmart. I see low income families doing all their shopping there and not at the local thrift stores. Just because you’re low income does not mean you want to buy everything secondhand.
Well, I'm a businessperson just like any other. Goodwill is NOT a nonprofit! They may use SOME of their funds for helping folks with job training, but they are a business that does what any big (American) business does by using whatever means to raise profits to pay their executives. I have actually talked with the local store managers who are frustrated by the corporate mandate to raise prices. If you go to their online selling site, you will see that they are cherry-picking all the best things to resell at a much higher price than most little resell businesses like mine. So actually, it is the growth of people buying second-hand goods online that is causing the high prices! However, you will see in an upcoming thrift video of a little Goodwill near me, that if you are patient, you can get good deals with their discount stickers. I spent $108 and saved $30 in discounts. Thanks for watching and your comment! God Bless
Hi Dear.. I visited your RU-vid channel and found it needs a lot of updates. First of all your channel video SEO is very weak due to which your channel video views are not increasing. If you do SEO then your video will come first in the search list and your video views and subscribers will increase. Do you want to customize your channel?❤❤
As I watched her handling all that stuff, I was thinking ‘drop that crap and get back to your dogs!’ Why would anyone who lived in a house/apartment/shelter of any kind, think they needed to haul them around and leave them in their car!?!
I truly appreciate this comment. Please know that I have had these two dogs since the day they were born. They are my heart and they LOVE to go with me everywhere - they are way more stressed when I leave them at home. I leave my car locked with the AC running on hot days. They have a huge bowl of fresh, cold water, and they get a treat before I go in and when I come out. They are very used to waiting and watching for me. However, I never left them in the car for more than 30 minutes. Thanks for watching and your comment!
@@CathiesCurations My dog is the same way and even though I am training him to stay home alone, he still has severe separation anxiety. people get pissed that sometimes I bring him with me and leave him in the car (safely and when the weather is not extreme). Little do they know Im seeing a dog trainer and working with my vet on getting medication that works for my dog. they both know I take him with me when I can..also my dog trainer leaves her dogs in the car when she can lol. people love to judge before they understand the full situation and before doing real research. I think If people saw how unwell my dog gets when left home alone they would understand some dog owners are trying their best and doing what's best for their dog.
This is going to seem petty but when I had an antique shop I hated "clankers". It is possible not to make a clanking noise every time you touch something or put it down . Some manage to make noise even with paper items. Minimum attention is required to make your way through a space without constant banging the merch around.
I don't think it's petty. It was the first thing I noticed in the video too and kept thinking how to politely phrase that one could/should handle inventory in a gentler way.
