hey mate, I know this is a really old video, but when installing the top bearing, how far down does it go? I cant seen to get it to sit on the edge inside the hole no matter how much I bash on it. It's kinda doing my head in.

Thanks for the video, very helpful. I just ordered an electrical teperature gauge and 40mm adapter on amazon, I'm going to give it a go. A friend of mine told me about fuse taps that plug directly into the fuse box without having to cut into the wiring harness, so I'm going that route. (It's essentially a splitter, that adds a wire and an additional fuse for the accesory you are adding.) Might be worth looking into for anyone reading this like who like me, isn't that confident about splicing directly into the vehicle's wire harness to access the power circuits.

My corolla trans cooler inlet line broke off last night. I wanted to see how these coolers are on the inside. Trying to determine if coolant got into transmission because the break caused both systems to be open at the same point.

Fischer and Pykel are rubbish machines a decent machine should not do this stupid out of balance alarm my mum had an old Hoover machine that gave up the ghost after 35 years and didnt need a thing done to it except replace the taps and hoses. If the manufacturer knows this issue why do they keep making it this way ? why not add the extra springs in when it comes off the line ? I know load of people who all complain with the same issue on this brand of machhine which I wont buy again as they complete rubbish .

This is a great video, Nev. All the other bearing replacement videos require complete removal of the top and both drums, with lots of extra dismantling. Your method cuts out all that nonsense and there is still plenty of room to work from above and below. Thanks a lot!

Great video. I have just replaced the 2 bearings and seal after the machine became noisy, unfortunately I left it for 2 months before doing the job. The top bearing had spun on the shaft so had to apply loctite during assembly, also I pulled the bearings into place with a piece of 5/8 threaded rod.

FWIW, I simply but an old drill press vice in the jaws of a cheap XY vice and now have XY control and the jaws are oriented parallel to the operator. Works fine on a drill press so far. Too much slop for milling though.

Hey, Nev. As you see, my name is Thane and I'm viewing your video from and am subscribed, in Canada. The topic of your video is of specific interest to me as it relates directly to the entire matter of high operating temperatures and the discrepancy between the recommended thermostat (rated at 78 C) and the temp at which the cooling fans actually kick on (the 'no-numerical-value' factory temp guage is non-specific). A digital monitor plugged into the OBD port indicates engine coolant temperatures as high as....in my case.....205 F. I'm 66 so I've lived with the well founded standard that one wants to avoid engine temps that get anywhere near 200 F. I still maintain that's a good point of reference, even though more modern engines seem to be expected to tolerate much higher operating temps. To me, thermal efficiency and thermal breakdown need a more common ground. Too the point, that's where my specific application comes in. I drive a 2003 Subaru Forester XS (non-turbo, EJ25 SOHC with A/T). Your video, which is excellent, deals with models from 2008 - 2013. Some of the key differences that I observed are: 1) The '03 model utilizes 5 pin relays rather than the 4 pin I observed in your video. 2) The three relays are labled as....FAN MODE RELAY, FAN 1 RELAY, FAN 2 RELAY. 3) I have not been able to find a wiring schematic for this application and wondered if you could offer any help in that regard. These are two, 2 speed fans which do function and do come on when the AC is on. You might wonder why there would be a concern about overheating in Canada.....well, it can get righteaously hot here too. And, of course, we have to climb mountains and idle around in traffic like most others. Anyhow, trust you'll get this and I'm hoping you may some insight into my situation and can offer some advice. The entire concept you've addressed is ideal, functional and necessary and I would like to utilize it on my 'baru. Thanks for your time. Thane
