I remember all the things shown, everyone seemed much happier then, even though they didn’t have much money, by todays standards. If kids misbehaved they got what my mother termed ‘a thick ear’ ….. great times.
The eminent Wally Brown closed down every technical college in Liverpool and sold off their grounds to developers in order to concentrate on Black Studies and Black Law "students" in rented offices in Liverpool city centre. Those colleges were all owners of their own grounds and paid FA to anyone in rent. Every college which trained apprentices and eggheads was sold out by Wally in order to enhance "blackness." Own it: Pay Nothing. Rent it: Get mugged. Great job, Wally, you fkn rat. I was there.
The good old days when we had decent buses with good intelligent crews nowadays they are rubbish unreliable days off the road for simple repairs nowadays electric buses are even worse with bad drivers
Standing on street corners waiting for Government handouts never solved anything..getting a job and organising to help your own people and communities is the way.
🇬🇧 I was born in Northumberland in 1953 & whenever my mam & dad took me into the city of Newcastle, id get scared of the big yellow Trolley Buses with their " antenna " reaching up to the electric wires, often sending blue sparks out! To me, as a normal unafraid 5 yr old, they seemed like mechanical Demons, i distrusted them immensely & refused to put one foot onto them! Although Trams had been almost eradicated, Tramlines criss crossed our city roads for long after the last Tram was decommissioned. In our village in the countryside they still used a Charabang, a motorised open topped wood & metal small bus thing, that did day trips to the Seaside & other towns or to a big Picnic. They were great fun. Our first car was like a big black fat bug! Known as a Baby Austin! The indicators for turning or breaking etc were little yellow Bakerlite plastic flags that were concealed in slots behind the front part just passed the driver/ passenger seats & shot out like luminous darts to alert drivers behind, of our left or right turns, lol. We kids used to stand on the wide Running board that skirted our car, while my dad drove down the street to the row of garages, we thought it was Brilliant! Most of our deliveries, shopping, Coal, fruit & Veg, Eggs, fish were all by vans or Horse & Cart Very few people went to big shops & supermarkets were fantasy! It was all very convenient & cheaper for customers for these purveyors of goods to come to your little row of houses. It was an altogether more secure & peaceful & trusting time then. People were innocent & more caring. When anyone in our little street got a Coal delivery from the National Coal Board lorry, they just dumped a Tonne of Coal outside your house & garden. It seemed to be the womens job to run out with coal buckets & wheelbarrows to shovel up the coal & wheel it down paths, around the house to the back where the coalhouse stood. Every able bodied woman just picked up shovels & buckets ( without being asked) & set to to help shift the coal of any of their neighbours, such community spirit & lending a hand was so natural. I miss those days alot. Dont get me wrong, we have marvellous things now & technology is unbelievable & Machines & gadgets have streamlined our living but Those past times were magic & Comfortable & trusting & we felt SAFE! One of these pictures shows a Stuka. As a kid, I was there, through all this. I never heard, or saw, any evidence of a Stuka. They didn't fit, function wise, or long range wise, or Night Bombing wise. Even for next day, after raid German reconnaissance wise ! Did this picture get in here by mistake ?
Hull got bombed more than Liverpool Hull was flattened and there's nothing in the history books about that its about time it started rewriting history and telling what really happened and Hull should be center stage

That brought back some memories. I used to love going to Blacklers with my Mum, the place was massive. I remember the Rocking Horse they had for the kids to play on. I remember my Mum saying, if you can`t get it in Blacklers, you won`t get it anywhere. Another wonderful shop was Coopers, you could smell it before you got anywhere near it, the smell of freshly ground Coffee, not that we could afford it. They had Beautiful polished copper topped counters. It`s sad the way places have changed and not always for the better.
At 2:45 to 3:10 is right outside our door in High Barnet..the Church is St John the Baptist of which I'm a Parishioner..wonderful community up here..moved in Jan 2007..all the Winter snow of the early 60's I'd guess..I'm sorry to admit I prefer our mild Winters of Global warming..tomorrow as I type is the Traditional annual Barnet Fair first Sunday in December..the 4th this time..every year for a couple of Centuries.. exactly how long? someone would have to Google that..comments welcome on any info..I'm gonna grab a couple of screenshots of the video..
