I made this channel to help people looking to get into jewelry making and design. I try to make my videos very approachable for anyone that is willing to learn.
Love this instructional! Starbond black, thick? Flex shaft press Polish and final, what is the it you used, specifically. And where to order? Rio Grande? Well done!
Such a helpful video thank you - I have this mill, bought recently. Had lots of fun with the profiles, but I'm struggling with the bezel wire - any tips for how to best go about this?
Awesome video. Straight to the point and no beating around the bush. Quick question though, is there a specific type of wax you use for the stems and sprue trees? And also for filling in the holes of the 3d model?
I made a copper cage ring with a piece of pipe that fit my finger and a couple files, rattail and flat. I should've used a drill but I wanted to see if it was possible without electricity first, just for fun.
Hi gomeowcreations, I noticed your copper ring in the video and was hoping you'd show that being made, I do a lot of copper work myself, very basic stuff without a lot of joins, I was just wondering what your approach would be with the copper ring, would you still you solder for it also?
For fluxes, i ground borax into an almost powdered sugar consistancy in a mortar and pestle, mixed in some home made rosin flux cut with isopropyl, and viola! The rosin does the initial clean and as it flashes off, the borax does the heavy lifting. Plus, the liquid rosin solder helped in carrying the borax to evenly coat the part im soldering.
I think it would be cheaper and faster to make a silicone mold from the wax piece and use silver clay to make a pendant or whatever from the silicone mold and cure the silver clay in a small kiln
This Pepe Tools rolling mill is fantastic. I've had one for several years. You are showing there is the one I have recommended to dozens of other jewelers. Its Nowhere near as expensive as the only other could possibly compete with it . And the quality is phenomenal. I've had the pleasure of speaking with them directly I had one complication with my mail in the very beginning, they were very quick to assist and solved every problem. Customer Service is perfect. And you probably won't need the warranty but it has one.
Thanks for sharing the video. I do like the addition of metal filings, great idea. Nice outcome. Any recommendations for sealing to prevent tarnishing? Cheers!
I got the blue one recently in the UK for £160ish with the five extra rollers. I tried it on a small silver ingot i cast to 5mm thick it wouldn't go through it as the top roller lifts high enough but it disengages the drive cog - so only the bottom roller turned! I was so disappointed about this - so as long as the metal is actually 4mm or less it does work
