Matthew said something so striking to me when he talked about how believers are called to pay taxes, not really for our benefit, but for the sake/benefit of those around us. I have been so on the fence about voing because I know this is not our kingdom. I know that satan is the god of this world's system, so for me personally, I don't need to vote. But what about "for the sake and benefit of those around me?" What about for the sake of the babies who could have been saved had I voted for someone who is against killing babies in the womb rather than someone who is ok with abortion even up until the 9th month! I would never get the c19 shot, but what about those who don't want it but are mandated/forced to get it by one candidate while the other is against mandating it. What about women and children being used to come across the border illegally and are being raped, trafficketed, and even killed because of open borders. I'm safe in Psalm 91, but what about those around me that I could be helping by voting for the one who wants to close the border, thereby, limiting the number of rapes and murders among children and women. It's a lot for me to think about.

Matthew here. The very ugly reality is that any American president or potential president is soaked in blood. It is war and pillage and avarice on the right or abortion and gender confusion on the left. The only way to serve your neighbor is by loving him with your life and service and renouncing the blood soaked politicians. Just one example should suffice- the pro life candidate in the 90s was GWBush- the man responsible for two wars and millions of deaths. If we took your logic above in this case we would be responsible for the fountains of blood in Iraq and Afghanistan ostensibly to "protect the innocent" and "for the good of our fellow man". It just doesn't work. But loving and serving the people in your local community does work and save and serves real lives not hypothetical guess work at who is responsible for more bloodshed and trying to pick the less bloodshed guys. Thanks for listening.

I sincerely appreciate your response. I'm so in the fence. I've seen witnessed abortion and it's horrific. Josh said in the debate that neither Hillary nor Trump would affect Roe v Wade, but he was wrong. And because Trump was in office, at least 7 states now have a total ban on abortion. So many babies and women were saved. I think about Stephen Douglas being elected instead of Lincoln. My ancestors would have stayed in slavery longer. Whether believers vote or not, somebody is going to be elected into office, and it's going to affect us, the innocent, and those who have not come to Christ, yet.

@@veronicamoore5560 the lesson for me is that both sides of the political spectrum are shedders of innocent blood. Trillions of dollars of defense spending is not for looks. They all have it and they all use it and it is patently unchristian. But even if some good were done even in a net result calculation- the ends do not justify the means. For us, the people of God, how and why we do things is as important as what we do. And we the people of Jesus the followers of the prince of peace can never co-opt violence and coercion even in the name of doing some earthly good. If you hate abortion, as we all should, work with women at risk of doing it. Work together with your community to alleviate the causes of abortion, not just dismiss it into the political realm. A great example of a grass roots ministry doing exactly this is in our sister community in Kampala Uganda- where abortion is both illegal and very common for young women- check it out here: www.his-image-ministries.com

There is one baptism, and that happens to be in Jesus name in water, but there are also many operations of that one baptism, and we can find this in Hebrews chapter 6 the first two verses. Ephesians 4:5 and Hebrews six versus one and two are reconcilable.
@ryandawson2877
@ryandawson2877 3 дня назад
I also believe that there is a difference between justification and regeneration, justification being the act by which the Lord declares us not guilty, and regeneration, being the act by which we are made new by the word, and the spirit of God through the water and the spirit. Romans chapters 3, four and five speak of justification, chapter 6 of water baptism, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and chapter 8 speaking of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, causing us to live overcoming lives, as we yield to him by faith.
@ryandawson2877
@ryandawson2877 3 дня назад
We need repentance, we need to be baptized, and it needs to be in the name of Jesus Christ, and then we will know that we have the remission of sins or the washing away of our sins. The name is singular in Matthew 28 and we see the fulfillment in act 2:38, 8-12:16, 10:48, 19:5, 22:16 Romans 6-3:6, one Corinthians one - 12:13, 6:11, Galatians 3:27, Ephesians 4:5, Colossians 2-11:12, 3:17, James 2:7, one Peter 3-20:21 dot Dot noticed that in every one of these cases baptism identifies us with the Lord Jesus Christ. The fullness of God dwells in the Lord Jesus Christ, two Corinthians 5:19, Colossians, one: 19, 2-9:12 Hebrews one: four, revelation, 1:8, etc., so instead of using the titles and the descriptive names of the father, and of the son, end of the Holy Ghost, and simply repeating the instructions of Jesus, let’s obey them, by using the name of Jesus Christ, which is the name above every other name, Philippians 2-8:11, which is the family name, Ephesians 3:14. When we identify with the Lord Jesus Christ, we identify with the whole godhead. This is why I have been baptized, do baptized, and believe that everyone needs to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, because that is how the apostles fulfilled the instructions of Jesus, Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Luke, 24-404:49, John 20:31. we must take on the name of Jesus, revelation, 2:13, 3-8: 11, 22: four, 14
@ryandawson2877
@ryandawson2877 3 дня назад
I am in a few minutes in, and I like what I hear so far. I was baptized originally in the titles, father, son, and Holy Spirit, but I was also wrestling with the act passages where the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in various forms is always used. I discovered that in the Greek of Matthew 28:19, it is one singular solitary name, and then everything else took care of itself, and I was rebaptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. I do believe in justification at the point of our faith, but I do believe that a further work of cleansing is done at baptism and empowerment with the infilling of the Holy Spirit, act 2:4, 10-404:46, 19-1:6, Romans 8:11, Galatians 3:5, 14, Ephesians, one: 13, etc. I do not believe that if someone genuinely repent of their sins, and believes on the Lord Jesus and dies of a heart attack before he has understanding/opportunity for baptism that they would be with the Lord, but if they refuse baptism when they know that’s really scary And there are those who put off baptism as though it is just symbolic and doesn’t really mean anything and that is completely foreign to really both the old and the new covenant. I also think that many people have difficulty embracing the salvific understanding of baptism, because they think of being saved as a one and done thing, but Romans one: 17 says that the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel “from faith to faith. “ so I do believe that conversion experiences are genuine, but I also believe that act 2:38 is the full package deal and everyone needs it. There’s something missing in their Hebrews six foundation until they receive baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, there is a difference between being conceived in the womb of the church and being born out of the womb. This seems evident in scriptures, such as John 3:3, and also verse five. Life begins at conception, but we need to come to birth through the water and the spirit. James won: 18 and one Peter one: 23 talk about being begotten, but it seems to me that the full birth into kingdom realities would be ACS 2:38, 8-12:16, 10-44:48, 19-1: 6, one Corinthians 6:11, Titus 3:5, John 3:5.

Focus on love and compassion, God will be happier and women will be more drawn, not condemnation and judgmental.

Salvation is a gift. God wants us to focus on helping the poor, spread the good news of grace and mercy to the oppressed and hopeless. Not to look plain and unattractive, Heaven is all about beauty. The only thing women should cover themselves more. No wonder men will try to give a 2nd look to an attractive woman that passing by,because at home there's a plain Jane. Want you to know that the removing of women ornaments in the bible is always when God is mad at Israel, a form of punishment. Of course Paul said that we should focus more on internal beauty ,but it's not a sin to look good. PLEASE!!!!!! Don't put extra burden on the women, life is difficult enough.

This was a big topic for me coming out of nearly 10 years of legalistic fundamentalism where head coverings and having long hair were mandatory for the women of our church. After many years of prayer about these verses God was gracious and showed me that this teaching on long hair and head coverings has no parallel under the OT type and shadow of Christian doctrine. Sound Christian doctrine is found in the OT blueprint such as sacrificial lamb, baptisms and out of servitude into a place of liberty and provision. This answer to these verses while utterly thrilling and liberating left me with a major headache. If they are not to be acted upon why are they there. After a couple of weeks of prayer ( so quick ) I had a verse coming to me 1 Cor 7 1..... now concerning the things whereof you wrote unto me !!!!!!! NOW....concerning the things YOU WROTE UNTO ME...... Paul covered these things because the corinthians had written to him about them. And then at the end of his discourse on their questions he finishes with his statement .....nevertheless we have no such customs neither do the churches of God. 1 Cor 11 16 WOW!!!
@robertmiller812
@robertmiller812 5 дней назад
I would like to add my two cents here after reading this discussion. First of all I believe we should follow the teaching in 1st Corinthians 11. The main problem here is the misunderstanding of 1st Corinthians 11 altogether. I also have made an intense study of this passage, and the obvious conclusion is that Paul was referring to long hair being the covering. The first thing one should take notice is the lack of wording required to conclude that a veil is being referred to here. The word veil or cloth is not in the text if we read from the King James version. If you read from the “modern” versions then you might get that view but not from the Textus Receptus. I would like for you to reread the verses that allegedly refer to a veil which is 4-7 and 13. In those verses we read the words, cover, uncovered and not covered. According to scholars these are used as adverbs. Like if you were to say I am going to cover my feet. No one should be thinking of a veil just the action of being covered. What is missing in these verses are nouns that would prove the idea of veils. Since we should not be assuming anything we should be asking the question what is the thing that a woman should be covered WITH based on the passage ALONE? So if you do the math you would find that Paul refers to hair directly 3 times and then indirectly 4 times with the words shorn and shaven. So if there is no noun for the word veil or cloth yet there are 7 instances of idea of hair, then what are we to conclude? That Paul is referring to hair whether it be short or long. But the counterargument would be that Paul is allegedly telling women to put something on. But that is not exactly true it says a woman should be covered, but he is referring to long hair based on the surrounding verses. But what about that a woman ought to be covered when praying or prophesying? The assumption is a that Paul was referring to only two instances which is not true he was merely giving us two examples. This also applies to men about being uncovered. Evidence of this is written in the forgoing verses. Paul writes that men ought not to cover because he is the image and glory of God. And then Paul goes into how woman was made for man and is the glory of the man. So it would seem that man shouldn’t be covered at any time if he is the glory and image of God. Paul also mentions that the mere observation of a praying woman should make us note how uncomely (unappealing in appearance) for a woman to be uncovered. Paul states this in a way that it should be obvious to anyone that she looks off in verse 13. He does this again in verse 14 about how shameful it looks if a man has long hair. He says it this way… Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? KJV So this judgement that we should make is exclusively based on observation of an “uncovered” woman as well as a long haired man. Two consecutive questions both appealing to something innate or within us. Paul is in essence saying that it should be obvious to see that something is wrong or off. So how is it that for the women we are somehow to know within us that a woman would be unappealing in appearance without a manufactured veil? That does not seem logical especially since the word veil is never mentioned. Unless that is not what Paul is meaning but rather that if the woman was not covered in long hair (meaning her hair is short) doing something holy or godly LIKE praying or prophesying. I think most people can relate that looking at a woman with short hair does have an unappealing appearance. It naturally provokes head turns. And if there was any question Paul flat out states what he was talking about in verse 15. So the facts are that there no nouns to use as evidence of a veil. There is evidence that Paul was using praying and prophesying as examples. Paul appeals to nature and something innate within us to judge that being uncovered or covered (meaning having short hair or long hair) should be obvious to all. So this cannot make sense with a manufactured veil.

The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him ONLY. The word "only" packs a lot of punch.

Can someone please offer me their opinion on this - David said that Isaiah 36:16 was like operating in the mindset of the new creation “enough for all”, that which is from God. Makes sense on the surface, but when I actually read the passage I found out that the person who spoke these words was Rabshakeh (a military commander) who works for Sennacherib the King of Assyria, basically the “bad guys”. So when the bad guys say “if you come with us, you will each have your own tree, your own water etc” isn’t it them using false promises to convince the good guys footmen to switch sides. Why is David making it sound like God is doing the talking, when the passage makes it sound like it’s Satan who’s doing the talking? What have I missed?

All of a sudden, you start seeing yourself as beautiful? When it is not a reality, let's be real. How do you not struggle with that? I completely understand. Yes, Christ sees us differently, etc, you husband may see you are beautiful. But truly to yourself when you look at the mirror... Its great that we are having conversations about dress and modesty in today"s culture. I am a Christian woman who has always worked, wears jeans most of the time, wears a bit of make up and loves dangly earrings! I do not head cover. I still consider my clothing modest. Lets not let things like clothes divide us dear sisters. Let is have the freedom to decide where our lines are and not judge either way. Dress is in part cultural. There are bigger battles to fight. I am in the UK and we don't seem to have these conversations. It seems to be a US thing. Interesting.
