What was his design and how would you have buffed it instead?

@@XIVDock Ok Dragonuv before was a very momentum based character that has powerhouses of mids but didn’t have much tracking or wall damage, so to keep people from side stepping moves like while running 2 you would use his one decent but not great low to keep them locked down and if they take the bait you can land a mid, but now they gave him a new low, the giant kick or axe, not only was this a safe low but it tracked the one thing Dragonuv wasn’t that good with and they gave more tracking to more of his moves and buffed his wall damage absurdly, a character like Xiaoyu has great oki and mix ups but what kept her from being overpowered was that she didn’t have a big damage output so combine that with how much damage she does in 8 and you deal with a nightmare. Dragonuv was considered a low tier and the changes with his damage, tracking and lows buffs made him lose the design he had because when making a character you want to have some holes in the design to keep them balanced but they stuffed the holes with Dragonuv designs. IDK how I would exactly change Dragonuv but I know tracking moves for him shouldn’t be that strong and if you read this then thank you and let me know your thoughts on it👍

​@@AnotherSanchez tbh im partly on par with your statement but there are some things i see quite differently. i'd assume the safe low you mentioned is his fc1,4 by being -13 ob? which is restricted to be only available in crouch. Bec cant be hatchet, it was never safe, it went from -15 to -31 oB his old itdentity is still there just his old design was by far undertuned in comparison for the other chars in the game, he had a (best case)18dmg wall combo while chars like AK had 19dmg + guaranteed oki or dvj having a 28dmg wall combo. it just didnt work well with his kit, what great does having a great wall carry have when you are no threat at the wall/have just lil reward for getting there. they didnt kill his identity they just fixed his flawed design, he still is a movement based powerhouse, just now he actually gets a reward correctly utilizing his wall travel (at least with conserving !T, his normal wall ender is 20dmg which is the average in t8). im not saying he is balanced, but nerfing the tracking making it was more sidesteppable and plus frames to +2/+3 on his snk4 would pretty much seal the deal, then its a weaker but heat engaging wr2, still a move with purpose. in this case he would still be linear as he was used to be and had to track with d2 his recent nerfs alr kinda had an effect imo since ulsan didnt win 1 out of 3 tournaments he participated in. but his dmg isnt as broken as many ppl think, his 15f combo deals 67dmg and with wall it gets to ~85dmg, characters like bryan laugh about these numbers easily getting in the 90s with every launch.

Combination of Drag's best tools having been nerfed over the course of T7 (specifically the tracking on his wr2) and other characters having been buffed and new strong DLC characters being added to the game. He also didn't have a bunch of really good moves they gave him in T8 (qcf4, hatchet kick, fcdf1,4).

His best low was d2, which while a good low, was generally not scary enough to make people want to duck. If you ever had to make a comeback off a life deficit in T7, you really had to play your ass off.

@@alphaamigo9688 yeah QCF 4 is over tuned as fuck but the T7 version was so much fun. Hitting a random as fuck chain throw was awesome. Also I get hes been nerfed like a lot, I've just never had a problem with it. (Other than OG leroy. Fuck Leroy.)

Listen, as a T7 Drag main it hurt seeing my boy get NO TOURNAMENT PLAY for almost two years (outside of the three times Nobi used him). I don't feel too bad seeing him dominate tournaments for a while. Also idc how many residentsleepers I see in chat, Drag mirrors go waaaaaay harder than T7 Feng and Kuni mirrors.

thats what many ppl sadly dont get, seeing drag in tournaments is awesome imo. does he have rly good and strong tools? yes, but he is still a mainly fundamentals character, so i rly enjoy watching him in competetive at least more than your typical 50/50 chars like shaheen who just threatens with slide, mishima 50/50 hellsweep/d2 gaming and well.. gimmicky stuff like alisa and yoshi. dont get me wrong i dont hate on ak, keisuke or kaneandtrench for example, its fun to watch them but its just the right amount of their respective chars presence, seeing more of their chars would quickly become plain. also by the looks of it, his recent nerfs did make an impact so far, ulsan attempted 3 tournaments and won neither, got 2nd twice and once dropped out in top16.
