what I particularly love about you Alfiya, is your ability to look at these subjects with the eye of a student, and to address those issues which we ought to have mastered but either lack the courage, or the awareness, to admit (to ourselves) that we haven't yet learned thoroughly; or worse, think that we know, but haven't really grasped the fundamentals behind it, and hence don't understand properly. Dear me, that was a long way of saying thanks - just glad I didn't try to say it in Russian (but I hope, by saying it in English, it will encourage English speakers, who are still novices in Russian, to join up with you).
A related issue is the spelling of adjective vowel endings- whether to use the hard or soft endings, например, "ы" или "и", а тоже, например, "ий" или "ый", и так далее. I understand vaguely when these endings are to be applied, but, am not infrequently wrong.
В общем-то, правил нет :) There is one more or less working way to memorize them by groups: food adjectives, time adjectives etc. But there are more exceptions than rules.
Thank you for your excellent videos. I am sure you spend a lot of time preparing them, and they are very helpful for me. I also like the subtitles you write in Russian, as they are a good way to practice reading.
I am from Brazil and started watching you videos a few weeks ago. I really appreciate them. Você já fala bem Português? Já conversou com alguém do Brasil?
Можно использовать оба варианта: Подарок для мамы - present for my mom Подарок маме - present to my mom То же самое с глаголом купить: Я купила подарок для тебя Я купила подарок тебе
"С" has 2 meaning: 1) with + noun - then we use Instrumental 2) since, from + time expression, place - then it's followed by Genitive. Like: Я работаю с утра. Я живу здесь с 2005 года.
Thank you , in this case it is instrumental case, however I am asking why isn’t the dictionary considered a tool like in the first examples of the video in order to avoid using “C”
@andreassantorinaios9337 because you translate or read 'with the help of' the dictionary. And not with the dictionary itself. We mean 'tool' when you take something, and this object completes an action. Like : your knife cuts the bread. Or if you wash clothes with your hands.
Thank you for the answer and all your great job for helping us learning russian! We are anticipating the video with the examples for the prepositional case! Stay healthy, greetings from Greece.
