my take on "Question Vivek's regarding range difference between 5GHz and 6GHz" When discussing the range differences between the 5GHz and 6GHz frequency bands, it’s important to consider the specific parts of these bands. Both bands are relatively large and quite close in terms of frequency, so general comparisons can be misleading. Here’s a more detailed breakdown: 1) Comparing Upper 5GHz and Lower 6GHz Channels: If we compare the upper channels of the 5GHz band with the lower channels of the 6GHz band, there is essentially no significant difference in transmission range. The proximity of these frequencies means their propagation characteristics are nearly identical. 2) Comparing Lower 5GHz and Upper 6GHz Channels: When comparing the lower end of the 5GHz band to the upper end of the 6GHz band (around 7GHz), there is a noticeable difference in range. Higher frequencies generally have a shorter range due to increased signal attenuation. However, the difference is not substantial enough to cause major concern. This is because Wi-Fi 7 includes features that enhance overall signal gain and mitigate range differences.

About use of Manhattan Distance when dimensionality increases: The Manhattan distance calculation can become less effective and lose its discriminating power. This is because the Manhattan distance is calculated by summing the absolute differences between the coordinates of two points along each dimension. When the number of dimensions is large, the absolute differences along each dimension tend to become smaller and the contribution of each dimension to the overall distance decreases. This can make it harder to distinguish between different data points, as their Manhattan distances may be similar even if they are actually quite dissimilar. Is the above understanding correct?
@Naachiappan
@Naachiappan Год назад
can you please state what do you mean by "This can make it harder to distinguish between different data points, as their Manhattan distances may be similar even if they are actually quite dissimilar". Everything before that makes sense. And the G-Drive link is updated, sorry for the broken link.
@reeshabhchoudhary5112
@reeshabhchoudhary5112 Год назад
@@Naachiappan I am talking about different data points and their distance calculation. Reference point: bib.dbvis.de/uploadedFiles/155.pdf This paper says: "for a given problem with a fixed (high) value of the dimensionality d, it may be preferable to use lower values of p. This means that the L1 distance metric (Manhattan Distance metric) is the most preferable for high dimensional applications." Hence, it seemed contradictory to me.
@Naachiappan
@Naachiappan Год назад
@@reeshabhchoudhary5112 yes, for dimensions of more than 1, where specific path is available, Manhattan distance works best. agree with the paper. in the video, we are discussing 2 dimensional example.

1. I have a fundamental question that relates to Dual Connectivity i.e. N-DC refers to the dual connection of 4G wireless access network and 5G NR. 2. Let’s say that we are using Band-X in 4G and another similar band in 5G and are attempting to communicate with both RATs to take advantage of EN-DC. 3. The question is what will happen if there is overlap in terms of the “spectrum occupied”. 4. Let’s say that the 4G component has been assigned spectrum in Band 3 from 1830 MHz through to 1850 MHz (i.e. a chunk of 20 MHz Bandwidth). 5. Let’s say that the 5G component has been assigned spectrum in Band n3 from 1820.45 MHz through to 1830.45 MHz (i.e. a chunk of 10 MHz Bandwidth). 6. In such a scenario, there is an overlap of 450 KHz between these two components i.e. the assigned 5G-NR band component eats into the 4g spectrum component by 450 KHz. 7. Will such a deployment work in light of the designated configuration based on existing product implementations? There are bound to be issues in decoding such transmissions at the UE because of the overlap in the spectrum. The reason, I am asking this question was because an argument (however erroneous) can be made that the 5G transmissions would potentially be orthogonal to the 4G transmissions (even if they have an SCS of 15 kHz or 30 kHz) and hence the decoding at the mobile will work because orthogonality will prevent any decoding issues. I do not agree with this argument i.e. that the orthogonality provided by the OFDM structure of the waveforms would protect them against each other (i.e. from the UE perspective in the sense that the UE can successfully decode the two transmissions). I would be very grateful if you could enlighten me with your perspective with references (if applicable). 8. If the answer is in the negative, from an R&D implementation, perspective - what changes would one need to implement to make such a configuration (i.e. characterized by overlapping assigned spectrums) workable in realistic network implementations? 9. It would also be immensely helpful if you could further substantiate your arguments with references from the relevant 3GPP specifications (or other relevant specifications) or draw my attention to any specific specifications or publications which can further clarify my doubt?

Good point but wouldn't 5g NR take precedence ? And we would be not getting the full CA impact but as much BW we are aggregating.
