Looks well, except you have two traffic lights that someone will ignore and run the red causing serious, if not fatal, accidents. I would rather have seen roundabouts at each side of the bridge. This was done in Carmel, Indiana at all of the interchanges along the two highways running through the city and it works great.

Apparently pedestrians are supposed to walk 1 km just to cross a road/highway, wait at multiple signals and cross multiple lanes with high speed traffic that never stops. After they do that in the best case scenario there will be a massive surface parking lot with a small building with business that the user wants to go to. In the worst case scenario there will be a maze of single family detached homes for a few blocks before the business/parking lot. There is a reason everyone drives in US and is so obese.

Why are there sidewalks and crosswalks? Who's going to walk here? Looks deadly

This is a disaster for bike traffic. There's literally no way to get through the intersection at bike speeds. Really stupid, unless you want to force everyone to use cars. Then, it's a good idea.

I'm all for good bike infrastructure that makes cycling a viable alternative. This is a highway crossing/entrance solution for a high speed car environment. This is not the place to try to include a bike solution. A bike route should be parallel, but well clear of this intersection and its traffic entirely.

@@Firebert79TA In US this could connect to halves of a city with the highway running in the middle of the city, since US builds highways in the middle of cities. You really think disabled people with mobility aids/kids/pedestrians/cyclists from one half of the city should be forced to drive to get to the other half?

I44 range line in Joplin was converted to a ddi because of the cloverleaves were too sharp

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I will remember all that crap while I sit in traffic waiting to turn left onto Westbound I-70 because 3 cars going North on Stadium are waiting for the signal. Happens to me in Branson on their DDI, every day I am there visiting family. IF the turn lanes are not long enough, the traffic going straight will back up at the lights and stop the turning traffic.

Looks like if you are crossing the bridge and wanting to turn left to get on I-70 and there are 3 or 4 cars ahead of you going straight and the light turns RED.....you ain't going anywhere for the rest of the light cycle. If you are turning right to get on I-70.....this plan will only be as good as the length of the right turn lane, because again, the cars going straight will be sitting at the stop light blocking your access to the right turn lane.

What a great project! Are you only doing one box per year? I bet that builds up great anticipation in the community! Did you do either of these boxes on state roads? I am considering doing it for my hometown, Anderson Indiana, but I want to get them on SR32 that runs through downtown, and the city does not have rights to them...Is your StateDOT involved with your project?
