Man i miss the days of home stereo systems...i used to sell them at best buy in 2001 while i was in college...as a sound guy and musician, my dad and i have always been audiophiles. Now Best Buy doesn't even have a home stereo department. 😕 Boy how times have changed...but your setup sounds amazing! Smart man for putting it in an empty room the acoustics sound great!
Amazing! How this speaker will compare with something more modern like Ascend Acoustics Towers? Someone nearby is selling me one of this, but I was convinced (by reading online reviews) to buy the Ascend. There is no way I can preview something more modern, I live in an island in the Caribbean.
The Line Magnetic with the Apollo's is a match made in heaven. They are ridiculously efficient. Just a handful of watts and the speakers sing at realistic levels without breaking a sweat. Rarely does the wattage meter go beyond 12 o'clock (which would be 2 watts per channel). And that includes listening to anything from Ella Fitzgerald to Black Sabbath. The Luxman is used primarily for somewhat less efficient speakers. Paired with JBL 4343 Professional monitors I just don't how music could sound any sweeter. Heads you win. Tails you win. The Apollo's are currently for sale as I'm attempting to downsize a bit. Thanks for the kind words.
Well balanced system. Very nice sound, and a great recording choice. I like the detail, the bass doesn't get lost in resonant sustain in the bottom end notes. Very clean.
They are absolutely gorgeous speakers, but, extremely power hungry. In my room was a perfect example of the most unnecessary subwoofer ever used. The 7.2's would go well below 30hz as I recall. Not to say that the sub didn't improve upon the quality of the bass but really just unnecessary. But then again as anybody in this hobby would attest to, 'what does necessary got to do with it?' Since then I've gone 180 degrees. Low powered tube amps and high efficiency speakers. Pure heaven baby!
+496 527 Satchmo Plays King Oliver. An Audio Fidelity 1960 pressing. Great music and absolutely mind blowing sonics! Reissue's are available. A no-brainer!
Jane Monheit is singing. I agree with everything you said about them. They are shockingly good. Now as far as you not having room....C'mon. You gotta have one of those ol' school rear projection sets or tube TV's taking up space. Roll 'em to the curb and put these bad boys in their place. You won't regret it!
Don't know who is singing, but it sounds good. I used to have a pair of the 1001s. The highs were detailed and airy, thanks to the rear-facing tweeter. The bass was solid without being boomy, thanks to Infinity's "terminated line" (not bass reflex), loading. As I remember, Infinity ran the woofers full-range and used that tar-like damping substance on the woofers to physically roll off the highs. Whatever they did, I think the 1001s were the best sounding, 2-way bookshelf speakers of the time. I wouldn't mind hearing them again, but I just don't have the room for them!
