I think the other comments have said mostly everything but Sing About Me is about the friend that got shot's brother(first verse talking) leaving a voicemail to him, and the second verse is about Keisha's sister (he sung about Keisha story on Section 80 his mixtape)
the formula and repetitive typa sound is normal in phonk/memphis because of all the sampling and the historic context of these genres rooting back to the 90s where producers only got a couple drum machines and samplers to work with which didn't allow much variation and forced them to creatively use what they have and play with the vocals. I love this shit and the repetitiveness doesn't bother me at all. If you want to listen to some memphis rap from the 90s I'd really recommend "Ashes Off My Blunt" by Guice Edit: wdym you're tired of the drums? It's hip-hop and they used different samples in every beat ☠
I would like to say that I’ll Fly Away, and probably some other Kanye songs are blocked on RU-vid which is also affecting some RU-vid Reaction channels.
def do more $ui but another great producer is jpegmafia check out his must recent album, he's a bit more artsy/experimental with his beats i think you'd have fun listening to that
Family Business makes me feel so nostalgic so I get crying. All the fuzzy samples, the piano, just the topic on family and the problems they have and they way they move through it, universal story.
I love hearing someone else react to these old kanye albums because it transports me when I heard these albums for the first and had the same reactions. Thanks for the awesome video!
I’m not sure if they really even have a bad album, this is the only one they actively shit on and its most people’s favorite haha this only fell to number two for me with New World Depression coming out.
If you look close enough I feel like it is definitely a concept album. The first third is a recap of his life up to this point, with Ultralight Beam starting with a child singing, Famous representing the MBDTF era and the Taylor drama, Highlights possibly representing him meeting Kim, and Feedback representing Yeezus, with a similar sound and subject matter. The second third feels like Kanye looking into his personal issues with tracks like Real Friends, Wolves, and FML. The final third I feel represents him trying to set his life in the right direction, with tracks like 30 Hours (30 hours being the time it takes to drive from LA to Chicago), and No More Parties in LA (self explanatory). It also contains Facts which talks about his success with Yeezy at the time and it finishes with Saint Pablo, named after the Pablo Kanye is choosing to emulate his life after, Saint Paul, instead of Picasso or Escobar. Or maybe I've just listened to this album too many times and I've just made all this up.
The reason carrolton is the most song is because it was the first single released for this album it is also the only song from the album that is put on their recent setlists
This video became unwatchable after a while, I know I’m exaggerating but it’s as if you’re pausing after every sentence Kendrick says. You’re overanalysing and as a result you miss the key points because you paused right before they happened and when you resumed you didn’t catch them because you weren’t locked in anymore.
Im not even sensitive to people pausing but he legit had no sense of caution towards it, its not just unwatchable but simply frustrating, you can't get an accurate feel for an album let alone a song if you pause every 20 seconds
i have to ask if you relisten to the album at least once, most people who make reactions edit and cut the video a lot more than you so they are forced to listen to the entire album more than once, which is the only way to have a better understanding of the album and what it attempts to do, and it doesn't look like this is edited very much (if at all) which is not a bad thing at all btw, loved the video and observations
Kanye's entire discography is an artistic version of his life at the time. The first 3 albums is Kanye's rise from the rebel outcast in hop hop that nobody believed in ,to becoming the #1 artist in the game by Graduation. I'm not sure if I see as much narrative cohesion from track to track on Kanye's first 3 albums , I feel like back then he focused more on making the best individual tracks and after his mom died his artistic vision became a little more "big picture" creating a character of himself for albums. 808s is the turning point after his mom died and his first fiancé left him. MBDTF is him going into a Dark Fantasy world of fame and sex after the Taylor Swift VMA backlash, the album starts with Nicki Minaj in a fake British accent "twisted fiction sick addiction " and the album ends with Kanye Lost in the World calling out to Kim after Blame Game his split with Amber Rose. On Yeezus, Kanye is completely lost in a sex addicted superstar God alter ego Yeezus but that lifestyle tears him apart at the end but he's still holding on to it and Bound 2 closes the album with him meeting Kim and seeing a glimpse of love. On the The Life of Pablo Kanye has to choose which one, the life for family and God or the life of fame and sex and the album ends with him calling to God for a way out of the nightlife on Saint Pablo. Ye is the reality of his bipolar nature and trying to define the real Kanye and deal with his past. On the last song Violent Crimes the chorus is says "Reality is upon us, colors dripping off" it's the end of the Dark Fantasy. And Nicki Minaj closes the album with a real voicemail in her normal voice juxtaposed to how she introduces Dark Fantasy in a fake voice. After the Dark Fantasy is completely over on Ye he finds God again on Jesus Is King. Donda (the original tracklist) is an underrated masterpiece and from Jail to Come to Life its a basically a journey of how God set him free. Jail "Guess who's going to jail tonight? God gonna post my bail tonight " Come to Life "God is still alive, so I'm free" Kanye's discography coincides with his real life because it's all public and all of the media stunts come before album's so his life and his art merge in a way I don't think any artist has done before for an entire career, because Ye is so open and public. He's almost made his life like a movie.
Welcome to the club! This track was my favourite from the album. Loved every verse, but that 2nd verse (Bizzy) was special. Never considered that all the percussion was literally coming from Bizzy's voice. With all the elements stripped back, his rapid flow punctuating is actually serving as the beat. 3rd verse just comes in so quickly, it's like Krayzie couldn't wait to lay down some greatness. The last verse is one of the better verses from WIsh Bone, and Layzie's intro verse blazed the trail. Definitely a good group to delve into. My recommendation would be "Family Tree" from their Art of War album (Disc 1). The last verse (Krayzie's) is a thing of beauty and vengeance.
Unfortunately, Rick Beato is right. On top of the topic, that music is getting worse, the movie industry is also getting worse. What Rick Beato is trying to explain is that it's not technology making worse, but the heavy reliance on technology that's making music come off to be more redundant. If you're not aware, the movie industry has been taking big hits in the pockets at box office for a lack of creativity and bad plots, themes, and scripting. There's also starting to be a heavy reliance of C.G.I. in modern movies, similar to the heavy reliance of autotune and computer driven beats in the music industry. As far as story writing, there's issues with the fear of offending certain people or groups,so, entire, titles, storylines, and themes are being changed from their original craft. An example would be just recently, (Snow White and white the 7 Dwarfs) just became (Snow White and the 7 magical creatures) from the fear of offending short people. Hahaha. This is where we're at. Also, I could easily give some recommendations from the past, music & movies that would make the point more clear just how far the entertainment industry has fallen. It seems the pros are, we don't have record labels to go threw anymore but the cons are we dont have anyone to go threw anymore before we blow up. To make my point more clear I could easily give some recommendations from the past that would raise your eyebrows and when I say recommendations I mean things that are off the radar if you're interested???
I think you should look into the story of the album and then relisten to it, you whiffed on quite a few themes which is understandable for an album this complex. Especially on one listen. Especially Sing about me, I’m Dying of thirst, that is in my opinion Kendrick’s best song. Look into the story and then relisten with that perspective it’ll make a lot more sense. Great video tho man, I watched the whole thing. you have to do To Pimp a Butterfly next. It’s his next album after this one.
The reason Slow Jamz is credited as Twista’s song is because the song is also on Twista’s album, Kamikaze. They both decided to have the song on both of their albums.
