I would check out dome uf Kershaw's new knives for a carru option pr yhe aluminum bugout im in denver i met Sal the guy that started Spyderco a long time ago and he had no integrity, he sacrificed safety and quality for a pallet of bad steel he bought about 20 years ago and because he did that ill never own one which sucks because i loved their martial bladecraft line.
I have one of the first originals, it says pre production 2004 under Osbourne's name. Its blue and its 154cm i carried it for almost 20 years daily. Until i retired it for my Blue Kershaw livewire, om a sucker for blue. And i wish i would've known back then that Benchmade wasnt going to release it in blue and change the steel i can only imagine what it would be worth today😂 its still my favorite knife and its operating like new. I never needed another knife but now im gonna buy a new one and the other 2 so i can have the family also
I’ve seen that with a lot of brands unfortunately. My Chris Reeve Inkosi Insingo has a very similar grind issue. I have a few knives across different brands that share the same “issue”. Spyderco, Lion Steel, Tops, Bark River etc, all have some lopsided grinds. I’ve just stopped analyzing evenness, as long as the knife performs well and is mechanically safe.
I grabbed the dealer exclusive Phosphor green color off of optics planet for 2/3rds of MSRP. Even at $200 it's still an expensive knife to me, but the coloration was hard to pass up.
Half face blades can be purchased thru a vendor in Julian, Ca. by the name of Quinn knives. They have a great selection. Alex and Sidney give great customer service and will ship it to you if you would like. God Bless!!!
I bought an early serpent (cerial# low 2000s), and i have a much bigger problem. My blade actually snapped in half. And they will not replace it. So im not sure what life time warranty means with them. Proceed with caution ⚠️
All knives are legal to own in California, except for hidden knives (like those concealed in a cane) and other crazy odds and ends. The question is weather it's legal to carry in public. At a state level, yes, this is legal to carry in public. California has no 3-inch blade limit. However San Francisco, Los Angeles, and possibly other cities do have a 3-inch blade law, so this would be illegal to carry there (although you still can own it).
There is no California limit on size of a folding knife. Maybe in San Fran, but the state says there is no limit. Spyderco with Access locks are legal so so is the 940
I have an Endura 4 with that steel, no problem with chipping but, hey, I use my folders not as machetes. Very good edge retention and very stainless, no problem sharpening it with my Lansky and Gatco sharpening systems with diamond hones. Maybe I wouldn't be able to achieve it freehand with wet stones.
It’s kind of funny because I feel the exact same way!! I’m more of a Spyderco kind of guy myself but the Benchmade 940 I have a soft spot for. I have always liked the 940 and I own three of them! I will still carry my 940 and my 9400 all the time!
Try carrying half face iwb at 3 o'clock, its set up for right hand reverse grip. Or you can grab knuckles against the body to pull out. Fun way to carry... If you go 3 o'clock owb flip the clip around to get that balde forward. Many ways to carry but i do like the 3 o'clock blade forward. Knives look great thou, good video
This is typical of hand ground blades. I have more expensive knives that are worse honestly. Especially when I put them on my wicked edge gen 3 pro that's when you really discover the inconsistencies with primary and secondary grinds.
I highly recommend the Canku 1140c It is worth every penny at $25 Buy with a Ulticlip 3.3 Slim $15 Do NOT buy the “Silver” one, they don’t grind the edges correctly on them. The “Black” and “Green” ones are excellent but do to the lack of contrast in edge to blade color on the silver ones, they have been ground incorrectly on each one I’ve gotten.

I’ve handled one, I’m of the opinion that these knives are very overpriced, has some “features” that make it a non-starter, and it isn’t a good edc knife, it’s a knife for stabbing. A solid pass. A PM2 is a way better edc knife.
so youd be fine spending that much money on something that isnt made correctly? if all you care about is it cutting then just carry a dollar knife from china that you can get from any 7-11
Pretty cool I hate that I'm leaning to a taleof knives belt sheath cause when I need my knife or light I need it quick, but that being said this is more of my ideal style.
Love their knives(Half Face Blades). That's a right hand carry setup. It's for the reverse grip in a self defense deployment, like a karambit. It becomes more of a pikal style in the standard grip and/or left hand carry. I'd call it a hybrid pikal/karambit/Wharncliffe. Great EDC regardless.
Thanks for the info. That makes sense, I find myself picking it up that way out of the sheath when it's on the table. For me, it's just EDC. No ninja action from me.
@@deltafunction0 That's the beauty of a Pikal. You can be the least trained person in the world and be deadly as all get out with it. It's all about the natural human reaction to defend yourself in an attack: to over-hand, hammer-fist your attacker to get them off you. You just start stabbing and ripping towards you like Norman Bates in "Psycho" around the neck area and the arms trying to grab you. About 3-4 good hits and they want NO PART OF YOU.
I bought my first Delica 11 years ago for $45 brand new. In today’s market, with the exception of the K390 and some sprints/exclusives, it doesn’t make sense to purchase them. They’re definitely great knives regardless.
Got mine the other day and I am starting to run into an issue with loosing the smoothness of the swivel. After flicking it open a bunch, it started to slow down and stick. Now its to the point where I cant one hand open it. Sounds like theres rubbing along the lock area. Is this normal wear/breakin?
I would definitely not call it normal for it to slow down. Some makers say it needs to be broken in, which means it should get smoother. Check to see if your finger is covering up amd holding down the pivot pin on the non-button side. I showed in my video how it's easy to accidentally impede the blade's travel by holding that area. You might have just found a grip that's more comfortable for you, but that now holds the pivot.
@@deltafunction0 Yea, I saw that you mentioned that in the middle and made sure that sure that wasnt the case. After playing around with it a little more, i think the blade itself might be putting much preassure on the lock and rubbing itself against it too harshly, which would explain the extreme friction im getting from the action. This started to happen when i wrist flicked the knife open out of enjoyment. Mightve possibly broken something so i just reached out to HF to check with them what they think. Would you happen to know if BOTH pivot screws come out? But of a dumb question, but the loctite on of them must be giving me hell, cause i cant turn it for the life of me. Dont want to strip the screw any more than i already have.
@@Brendonkchu2 I would not expect loctite on this item. All of the parts that need to rotate wouldn't have that obviously. I'm not a knife expert or an influencer I am just a guy that buys too many of them. The fact that both sides of the pivot pin rotate at all is sus. It's not even captive. It's not uncommon, but if both sides were meant to rotate, they would both be torx ready so you can hold one side still as you turn the other. This item doesn't do that. And it should be more than capable of wrist-flicking, the thing is meant to be a defensive weapon, it's not a delicate object. I didn't see any paperwork about disassembly will void the warrantee or any sort of Microtech language. So probably, if a disassembly and a shot of oil and then reassembly doesn't fix the issue, HFB would probably make it right. Shoot them an email and see.
