Awesome movie documentary drama what ever you want to call it Veronica looks like midel Paulina Poriskova. I was mesmerized for 3+ hours. Highly recommend ❤ the gaslighting though was terrifying.
Poor dear Veronica, how I wish I had been a friend. He was a brute and had fearful friends. All evil. So sad she committed suicide in late life. A truly sweet girl.
Lord Lucan was confident that he could carry out the murder of his wife and shift the blame onto a non-existent intruder without arousing any suspicion or scrutiny, given his privileged status as a member of the aristocracy. He was confident that his own testimony would outweigh that of a working-class police officer. The Lucan family and their associates believe that the failure of John Lucan's plan was the true tragedy, rather than the murder of Sandra Rivett.

Times have not moved in the 21st Century regards Legal Cases against wives. Historically foundational : The woman is unstable. In need of psychiatric treatment. Husband must " save " the children. Whether an Early or a Bus Driver, the story is the same. Men are not accused of instability. More likely, of abuse with or without, physical force. This is argued away, by insisting the wife is unstable. Real Drama UK TV Series are the very best. The Brits understand how to portray and mock their own Class System.

Lucan (TV Mini Series 2013) - imdb 6.9 A two-part drama about infamous aristocrat John Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan, who mysteriously disappeared in 1974 after being accused of murdering his children's nanny. Lucan's inheritance of 500,000 thousand pounds is worth around $12 million dollars in todays money. He gambled the entire inheritance away and when his estate was finally settled it was worth around 15,000 pounds (which equates to about 30 thousand dollars), to his kids. Fortunately the Lucan dynasty has died with him because without a body, it can't be inherited by the next "male" in line. The "closing of the ranks" around this crime is why it remains unsolved to this day.
And the biggest mistake men make is that they don’t realise how much women hate them.Greer made a reputation for herself in that Sydney University generation of bright lights among others. She made it by Men Hating which as a typically middle class malcontent. It’s ironic that in London she chose working class men to have relationships with….she was a feminist hypocrite.
I remember this murder very well. Lucan was a vile man and a total waste of space in this world. The untimely death of Sandra, who had her whole life ahead of her, is a terrible tragedy and must have been unbearable for all of her family and friends! It would have been better if Lucan had never been born.
Fascinating Drama! I have to admit that I absolutely pissed myself at the scene whereby Lucan had tried to have Veronica committed. It was so brilliantly done. The complete passive-aggressive contempt is so British! <3
That moment was powerful. My whole family was passive aggressive. It's hard not to do it myself. I escaped possibly being committed at the psych ward by running and hitchhiking it home. I felt like I broke out of the penitentiary. Very thrilling and satisfying. Just because I was drunk. No. Not insane 😅
Lucan encountered Veronica and a man struggling in the kitchen? And he did not bother to stay around? And the Dowager saying that Veronica was under treatment when custody was awarded to her based on a sanitarium saying she was sane? Sounds like they were setting her up for incompetency. And Lucan's actions certainly show that the upper class banded together to save their "integrity". They all tended to go to the same public schools or same set of public schools. And socialized in the same satellite orbits.
The point of Darwin's theory is that in biological systems, only the strong survive in order to preserve each species. This includes man in his earthly state. The goal of mankind, as children of God, is to kill the earthly man within one's self in order that the spirit man, as Paul stated, takes over. The earthly man must die so the spirit man may live. This requires great sacrifice. I know firsthand how excruciatingly difficult this can be. Nonetheless, we must disable ourselves of earthly notions such as "only the strong survive" and replace them with Jesus' teachings such as "love your neighbor as yourself". Prayers.
Veronica was not a very good mother but was most likely in the deep depths of depression from an abusive spouse. She may also have been suffering post pardem depression/psycosis
Super well done... although the main thrust was a mocking of the inner workings of some small group of supercillious English "nobility" which I found stinky. I would have much preferred a police procedural point of view as the main perspective. The narration by a neutral observer was good but not enough.
With all of the problems and tragedies in the world- wars, death, destruction and displacement of whole populations- it boggles the mind that one should care about disfunctional grifters of a British aristocracy that should have been abolished ages ago.
What a monster! Only halfway through Episode 1, but I'm hooked. It's great to see Eccleston and Gemma Jones--love them both! Lord and Lady Lucan are also excellent.
