I'm currently doing a playthrough of this on my channel, but it's sure as hell not a speedrun haha. Respect to anyone who can play this game that well.
@Toshinegawa he does and L brace allows us to perform this trick. The series of jumps we do on the wall allow a very specific setup that allows us to jump above the barrier that blocks us from earth scroll, letting us skip steam wood and the rootrick race
I'm several years late to this, but absolutely great review! A couple small notes for anyone who stumbles across this later. One option for handling keeping Musashi from getting tired is to buy Mints in the store as they wake him up by quite a lot. I forget exactly how much. The skidding that happens and makes you want to pull your hair out at certain platforming sections can be avoided by holding the block/ charge button as you land and he won't skid. And there's one other charge attack option that was left out (the game never tells you about it and the only way to know it exists without someone telling you is if you idle on the main menu long enough it's in one of the game play demos that starts up) but if you press triangle with any scroll selected right after you block an attack, you'll unleash a very powerful counter attack that leaves a lingering Shockwave for extra damage. It's especially good for handling the mimics in frost palace. I have a lot of love for this game, but it's by no means perfect and I think your review did an excellent job being fair to it. It's one that I recommend people try, but only with save states and a good guide. It's far too cozy and chill of a game to try and brute force past the frustrations imo. Oh, and bonus mechanics that exist for reasons. Being poisoned or really tired increases your crit chance from 5% to 50%, but only in areas that in game time passes. So not in chapter 6 or in the area where you duel Kojiro on the beach.
