Ideally, how long should you break-in a stock unlubed MX2A? I placed an order on Geon and was wondering if I should do that or just go straight modding it.
its personal preference in how much scratch you want to remove. 1-2M actuations is what I see on the market, but if you are doing break in yourself, you could experiment at 500k intervals if you still want a small amount of scratch.
@@KeebScience oh gotcha. it's the scratch that we're going for. i'll prolly just go ahead and mod the switches right away. thanks for the feedback. this would be my first time. from all the F1 soundtest, the majority go for cherry switches.
@@DadTech1981 they already have polished stems i believe vs the m1xa, u can def go straight to lube/film/springswap imo. i mean i have for 190 of them so far lol. have 3 builds with these now.
a lot of variables go in to this as it depends on overall board design, plate design and its stiffness. Lastly, it can vary from switch to switch as different brand switches have different thickness pins. So some pins may be loose, even on a mill max socket, and will not hold onto the pcb enough. Which over time and use, may cause the pcb to fall off and then cause issues.
The keyboard? maybe in a couple months. There's a big batch of these being manufactured right now. But won't be available in this colour as this was a special edition.
Hi there! I was curious on what your favorite plates for the kohaku were? I recently won the latest raffle but not too sure on choices! Thinking of picking up the pc plate
Congrats on the W. I would personally skip the PC plate, unless you get a custom one made that adds material back in to support the backspace area of the plate. I have favorite switches for all the three plates I've used. So it really depends on what you prefer. If you like to tinker around, get the CF with your order, and get a custom PC/PP Plate from Hype.
@@tranmeister On Alu, Xinhais or BSUN BCPs. On CF, Hyacinth V2U. On PP, Hibiscus was really surprising to me. MX blacks on CF was really nice too if you don't want that much HMX Clack.
@@DadTech1981 Oh, well in a few months or so, there should be some available for sale. So shouldn't be too hard to get one once they finish production.
Glad to hear a Vega sound test in 2024. I converted my Vega into a top mount! I have the alu plate. Will try it with the HMX KD200 switches. Heard it’s similar to HMX Cheese.
previously I had Neons, so I overpowered the sound profile w/ a loud switch. But you can hear it was a bit thin. The 1.6mm pcb i feel evens out the sound and definitely worth getting next time they do another run of these PCBs.
I don't have the clouds to compare first hand, but KeebTaro maintains a chart with comparisons between them. Based on KeebTaro's opinion, the Xinhais are louder than the Clouds, but roughly the same pitch/tone.
It holds its own, the tadpole mount style is really good for typing feel and sound. Just like the Frog Mini is so good for its price because of the tadpoles. Its a nice balance between top mount and gasket mount. The only minor complaint would be the lack of any design on the bottom case compared to a Kohaku or a 910.
it definitely is more sensitive to the switch for the space bar. So if I didn't swap switches all the time, I would definitely use a different one for the spacebar. Im thinking it might be how the plate is designed, might have isolated the space bar too much from the top mount spots.
Yea, hopefully it arrives sooner for all you GB people! Its been one of my grail boards for a while, and having it makes it hard to shop for other TKLs for the collection because of the value and performance the F1 gives.
