Problem with staying as the shogun is that you get regular events forcing you to either release separate daimyos as independent states or face somewhat strong rebel stacks, chipping away at your manpower. I found that very annoying.

Aaah being Morocco there, it wouldn't have ended anyway else. The walk around forts idea is very powerful, but moreso it is EXTREMELY frustrating to face. You make a lot of enemies with that.
