I was a member of Sing Out South in the mid 60 's. I guess we couldn't use the Up With People title for copyright law. I have sung this and many of the songs from his show hundreds of time.

Madonna played a great Evita. Bandares played a great Che Guevara(not that i admired Che). I saw this movie when it came out in ‘96. I recently bought the blue ray. It’s so good! Love it! I know that Madonna was expecting her first child when she did this movie. Although I was never one of her fans I think this was the best thing she’s ever done…imho. She needs to get off the stage now and let us remember her like this😉
This guy sounds just like my dad. He traveled with Up With People Cast A in 1983 and he sang this song just like this. I don't think it's him in the video, but he sounds very similar.
I love that they are less organized than your average high school marching band, but are clearly having much more fun than any other Super Bowl performance I've ever seen. It's like they found the thousand happiest people in America, taught them some songs, and just turned them loose on the field. A beautiful chaos.
And yet on TikTok someone will post the Michael Jackson halftime show and everyone will comment about how America USED to be great and how this was a time when Super Bowl halftime shows were good. Golden Age thinking. There was SO MUCH CRAP back then too.
