Welcome to my channel. I'm Jorg, a curious oddball from Edmonton, Alberta, north of 60 years old. I have a passion for budget friendly adventures and exploration. This is my vlog channel where you will find a unique blend of wide ranging interests, including bicycle touring, camping, cycling, budget travel, fixing things and sharing ideas, presented with a does of sarcastic humour.
If you are unique and curious yourself, and have gained a perspective on life that comes with maturity, there is a good chance you will either learn something or be entertained, quite possibly even both.
You will find real life adventures riding on vintage bicycles, river rafting and camping trips with a cheap inflatable boat that can even carry a bicycle, tips on how to build imperfect fun things and questionable repairs.
Of course I also comment on the world's problems from my perspective.
If any of this sounds like a good use of your time, you're my kind. Why not subscribe and stick around a while?

That is warm for up there in Edmonton! Today in the Dallas area it was 29C for the high with a 14C low tonight. It's a nice break from the roasting August temperatures.

That was very enjoyable, thank you! You mentioned the Saskatchewan River, the school I went to was right on that river and we did an overnight canoe trip from Drayton Valley back to the school. St John's School of Alberta, which closed and Mother Earth's Children's Charter School was there for a bit but now it's closed. The location is in Genesee off Hwy 770 near the Genesee Bridge.

Theoretically mosquito season is all summer, but we don't always get a lot because the climate tends to be on the dry side. We went for a two week trip, but might still go camping one more time. 😉

Various times years ago when doing body work outdoors in the winter, I cured small areas of bondo or epoxy by leaving a heat lamp on it overnight. Oh, and years before that, I undercoated my '58 VW in sub-freezing weather by setting fire to a can of roof coating, stirring it around as it got good and hot, and then smothering it and doing a few minutes' worth of brushing it on until it was time to heat it up again. I figured that the tar being good and hot would likely remove whatever minute amount of moisture might be on the surface due to the cold air. That reminds me: I've been meaning to try that again with various of my vehicles.

This probably worked good enough. But bodywork in the summer seems so much easier. Thanks for sharing though. Quite impressive actually!

Hey Jorg, don't let the time bother you. It is not like you did not have other obligations and the weather was pretty bad on some days. Forget the body work for the time being (unless you have a mild fall). Get the lights, parking brakes and tune up done and get it tagged. Don't forget that timing is critical for good engine response. I already know about the gas pedal being the problem for the sticking (one of you shorts).

@the1andonly
@the1andonly 10 дней назад
Thanks for sharing this concern. I clearly talk about it at the end of the video. The entire system was drained and the fluid disposed off at the eco station, before filling it with water. Sure, there might have been a tiny bit of residue left in there, but it was diluted to the point where it's negligible, especially when you consider how many vehicles have minor fluid leaks and whatever else goes down our drains. You probably do just as much damage by just washing your hands after a greasy job, or hosing off your engine bay.

Good looking drain plug and installation. Starting to come together fast. If not for the sticky throttle cable, I would have taken it around the block. You should pull off that rear der cable and clip only the bent end, then put a replacement cap on. That'll fix it easy. Brilliant fix on your Winter beater bike for rear axle tightness. I hate the idea of riding a steel frame as a beater bike for winter riding. That said I have to build something soon. Always love late 80s and early 90s. And I remember some of those Suntour rear derailleurs could fit 34t cassettes for that nice low gear. My bike as a kid was a Diamond Back Ascent. I got curious and did a little checking, it looks like those lines were solid metal lines from the factory. I'm guessing the people you bought it from put the rubber hose and braided hose on there. With the metal lines fastened into the throttle body, there's very little risk of fuel being around the coil and distributor. You may want to find a way to move that rubber line away from the coil and braided hose, though, to prevent it from rubbing through.
@the1andonly
@the1andonly 17 дней назад
Good point! But I can assure you that the original lines were the braided ones. When I took out the throttle body , the steel end of the return line kinked and broke, so I had to find a replacement. That's why the rubber is there. You're right, leaks in that area are rare, but there is almost no way to re-route the return line.
