I am a bit of an individualist. It would have been too much for me. But I see similar approaches in today's Western world, mass control, ruthless propaganda and preparation for war, and that makes me sick
Very nice film but an important correction to make... The first part has nothing to do with Falaise (city and famous battle). It is about Saint Lô which was indeed horribly bombed by US air Force.. The confusion comes from the sign "falaise" which means "cliff" in French. This is a cliff overlooking the Vire river in St Lô. The "Stade de la falaise" still exists on top of the cliff in the neighborhing town of Agneau ...

This also happened in a lot of towns and villages in Belgium and Holland... The "resistance" was responsable for a lot of suffrance -they killed some dizaine people with this kind of things

We did not invite the Germans to bring in their troops into Denmark in 1940. An uninvited guest with a bad attitude will always be asked to clean up his mess before he leaves. That is what we did, - though it is not our finest hour. Born in 1954, I was brought up to hate Germans. Today I love them

You know, that statement is interesting. I imagine that some of the Germans involved likely saw the action as a kind of penitence. That they understood the generalized anger against the German nation and were ashamed of taking part in what had happened.
Nothing of a war crime, they were NAZIS and as NAZIS they had to pay for the atrocities they committed during 12 years of regime. If it were up to me at that time I would have handed them all over to the Russians after demining Denmark. They voted for Hitler, they started the war and they are the war criminals.

It's very sad that those women were prosecuted and humiliated for the rest of their lives for doing what they had to do to just get enough to eat for their kids and themselves. Those men who cut their hair were the running dogs of war, just garbage.

Most of those people did nothing in the resistance. And many thousands of French sided with or were neutral to the Germans. But like in every war people want to forget what they did or didn't do and side with the victors. Had the Germans won they would have all sided with them.
I spent a month in France last year traveling to places like Nice, Paris and Normandy. War memorials and such never mentioned Nazis or Germans, only "the enemy". When I asked my friend, a Frenchman, about this he said the war was "very complicated". For the most part it is hard to find a French person who will condemn the wrong doing by the Nazis or Vichy French. French history itself is "very complicated" to say the least. The deeper you look into French history and conduct the more disgusted you'll be. That being said, France is a good ally of today's free world.

So they tied the french hands in their back. French Governement fault was they made themselfs april fools by endorsing the doctrine : No War without the British Alliance working. They shoot themselfs in the foot. They let Germany re build Army and agressive nationalism. France should have gone to war with Hitler in 1933 ALONE !.... which they did not : because the British didn't want that to happen. And it went down like this until 1939. France got finaly a Go Go. The British will always be at war with any Continental Uber Power. Wolfy was the Continental Uber Power. London would finance his defeat at any cost by any means necessary. They financed how many Coalitions against Napoléon ? 5 ? 6 ? They even get involved on the ground in Spain etc. Wich was a Big No No for the British. Read Napoléon the Great ... by a British schollar. He was the Good Guy. Second : Hitler was menacing the Low Countries and Belgium. That meant war anyway for London. They would not let someone with a gun pointed at London the United Kingdom and British Empire heart. You may say : WWI was France's fault. The Alsace Lorraine obsession... WWII was the result of British being very Nice to Germany after 1918 being obsessed with France being the Continental Super Power... again. Even for the Reparations : British played against France. The fact is France needed that monney to pay back the American loans and rebuild the ravaged front line provinces. Germany could pay. Everybody agrees with that now. It was just a feu GDP % points. The British have done everything they could to offer Germany better terms. Because if Germany fails to pay France, then France stops paying London and New York banks. If that happens so London would cease immediatly to pay back the Americans. And it went on and on like this.
