for best emptying of the bag it,s best if it is in the middle of bag but it,s quite hard to get it in bag with long reach. if you put it on the side as you suggest it doesn,t empty fully and need to angle forks but this could slide bag forward and fall of the fork. also the bit of bag thats cut out with knives ends up in bottom of spreader and blocks moterbike spreader, that,s my take, but the idea is good to empty bag in stages,thanks
