If you can’t turn a profit on the load don’t turn the key plain and simple. It just means the shipper doesn’t really want to ship their product out today it will still be there tomorrow with even more freight so just find something better to do for today because when they are ready to ship their products you’ll turn a profit on the load with out a problem
Yea sure might have been good tactic years ago but not anymore. The influx of cheap labor has destroyed the trucking industry and there are always companies willing to push for cheaper, so even when they do gotta move the freight there’s a company that’ll do it for cheap
@@otrookie The truth is no one can run for free or at a loss for any length of time because all it takes is one bad day and their out of business at that point and the truth doesn’t change the fact “The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent” that goes for everyone it doesn’t matter how large or small they are in size it’s about how long it takes for them to run out of money in this kind of market. The best thing to do is to look for what other don’t want to do and try to make that work for you it might not be everyday you find those loads but the one thing you have going for you is you don’t have to worry about your driver quitting or crashing the truck because of their level of experience. So the larger companies will stay away from those loads. another idea is make friends with the shippers in your area by staying close to home and booking their loads day after day so they get use to seeing you pick up and drop off constantly so they remember you and they will start to call you and not some brokerages when they need a truck in the good times and bad times with a price you can make work. This is all the larger companies are doing on a national level by having a tons of trucks in and out of places. So Yes you might have to take shorter runs today to do this but shorter loads should have a higher margin and you are also close to home more and not sitting at a truck stop hoping for a load that pays plus by being at home more makes it easier to find something else to do that day if their no money to be made in trucking that day because at the end of the day as long as your business can make just enough to pay it’s bills you should still be in business tomorrow. And the truth is you might not like the idea of do this or that but it not about what you want it’s about what is best for the company you are running. I was running my own trucking business since 2010... sad day when i closed company end of 2021, but much happier now working for a freight broker. You're a smart kid apply for as an account executive for freight brokerage and see how much happier you get with life. Take care!
I haven’t done lab tests but tbh I lost couple psi which is worrying me other than that I can’t tell the difference, oil pressure is lower and temps are same
Best one ever was in Queens…the fire station across the street had to back the firetrucks out so I could nose into the firehouse.then only open 1 door….get in there and the truck is in the street and I pay a ..wino..that may be cruel…25$. Nice. Might consider getting something you can produce compressed air with, and a semi-sized battery jump box. That right there will probably pay for itself after a couple of runs.
Talk to Ryder and Penske and other places like that about being a provider for their s.o.s service. Because I know they use their own shop and outside vendors for roadside service break downs for their customers and it’s just to get you up and going or they tow it to one of their shops if it can’t be fixed.
Your always complaining about not having loads maybe it's time to look at working for a different carrier. I see numerous trucks on the road everyday not to mention the shipyard that has 100's of trucks coming in and out everyday. So if your not getting enough work do something about it.
Most companies are and been running at A loss just to stay in business lol but I mean if you’re few that still got good loads then good on you, generally speaking industry is bad

I’m with ya but at same time considering how filthy and nasty most truck drivers are nowadays with no respect for place they’re at can you really blame them… look how much cleaner non truck places are

Stopped at one in Florence, South Carolina on my trip between winter and summer homes. First time there, and don’t likely plan on returning because dozens of gas pumps but not a single windshield washing squeegee in sight! Had to go to another station to clean windows! Gas price was good, but they also didn’t have or we couldn’t find any Pepsi products which my friend with me wanted. Rest room was very clean!
