This movie is supposed to reference all sorts of IPs (movies, books, etc)... because lazy writers (game coders) fall back on copying what was successful in the past. That company (especially the head, Antwan) was full of bad, lazy, or just overworked programmers. So, all the scenes inside the game would totally reference other movies like The Incredibles or Iron Man or Star Wars. Also, gamers love to give "nods" to their favorite IPs.

Kasey Chambers is an Australian legend: the youngest person to be inducted into the Australian Music Hall of Fame, a dozen albums and has more than 30 ARIA Awards (the AU Grammy's). She is beloved but is ignored by radio and was shunned by Sony. She's been performing in her father's band since she was 12 years old (her brother is backing vocals and her dad is on the steel guitar on stage here). She had some pop hits in the 90s but her heart and soul is Country in her own style. She wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this song because she loves Eminem, and she had the time to rearrange and compose this masterpiece during lockdown. She is showing so much emotion because she has lived this to a degree as well. She is now 48 years old and a mother of three. This recording is the first time it was ever performed live and was done at the end of the concert. They thought it went well, so they used the recording from the sound desk and asked their fans who were in attendance to provide any footage they had to composite this one together. While there has been no public approval from Em, she has been allowed to put this song up on Spotify without challenge.

So I know this is super late to be commenting, but what I've heard is that this song is about a friend of hers at the time who, around the time of the Red album's release, died of an overdose. In an old video of Taylor accepting an award for Red, she mentions that she just came from his funeral. This friend of hers was also a musician, and she used to play all her songs for him. I think it's safe to say, from this song, that he probably was struggling with depression or something similar, and was using drugs or alcohol to cope. It's actually like Tied Together With a Smile because that song, you may know, was written for a friend in high school who was struggling with an eating disorder. Something I really appreciate about this song is that it not only conveys some of her friend's struggles, but also the pain it is causing the people who are trying to support him in those struggles, which isn't a perspective I see a lot of in pop music.

The books are amazing. Watch all 3 Swedish films. They are all great. The Hollywood remake is okay but nowhere near as good. The 4th film, The Girl in the Spidersweb is not good. The book was written by someone else. As Stig Larsen is sadly no longer with us.

When Wynona is telling the beginning of the story, she mentions that Edward was alone. In the most gentle, caring, empathetic voice you said: “Aw, f*ck off” Never in my life (until now) have I heard anyone utter that phrase in a loving and compassionate manner. I love this movie and I enjoyed and appreciated your reaction very much.

It’s hard to k ow who to dislike more, Martin, the Stepmother or the father. The father isn’t unpleasant like the other two, but he is so weak, and just ignores how spiteful and cruel his wife is to Fleabag because he “deserves to be happy”

I know that liking something is subjective and everybody can have their own preference and blah blah blah. However, ranking Bly Manor ahead of Hill House should be a crime. Hill House was a masterpiece. Bly Manor was good entertainment. Bly Manor fell victim to having to follow Hill House and it was just never going to live up to that.

A real moral roller coaster. Marlene was able to sacrifice the life of someone who was in some way close to her. Joel sacrificed humanity for selfish reasons. He couldn't imagine experiencing the loss of his own daughter again. Nothing else mattered to him. Throughout this story told, what is also interesting is the fact that everyone glorifies the murders that Joel commits while protecting Ellie and also everyone condemns others who try to kill Joel and Ellie. The truth is that Joel protects his group, just as Tommy and Maria protect theirs, even David and Kathleen protect their groups... Each of these groups does exactly what Joel does for Ellie. He protects his own people. At this point I come to one very disturbing conclusion. If such or a similar pandemic ever happens, the biggest enemy will not be a virus, a zombie or something like that. The biggest enemy will be the other person. Every group and every person, because their goal will be only to save their own people. Marlene was the only one willing to sacrifice Ellie, whom she raised as a daughter, for the good of humanity. Therefore let us praise war. The only hygiene in the world. Ashley Johnson did a great job creating the character of Ellie in the game. And the show also created Ellie as her mother giving birth to her... Great symbolism showing that it all started with Ashley...

54:05 I believe this is another reference to norse mythology. Specifically, Odin was the one who was hanging upside down from the tree of the nine realms for nine days. The number nine is also important to Norse mythology and seen as sacred, hence the nine day feast happening every 90 years, with 9 sacrifices. Anyway, the connection here with Josh is that, just like Odin, he always sought knowledge, and in the end his lust for knowledge ended up being his downfall, again, much like Odin.
@johngrizis
@johngrizis 23 дня назад
I know it's been like a year, but you still might find this interesting. The reason why no one is tending to the crying baby is because they want it to "detach" from its biological parents. This is why they put scissors under the pillow in the crib. The parents are usually away on pilgrimage, which is a fancy way of saying they travel abroad to look for outsiders to diversify the bloodlines, as well as new recruits and sacrifices for their rituals. This also ties in to Pelle referring to other people in the cult as brother, sister or father. They basically view themselves as one big family, and they enforce this collective mindset to their children since birth.

Historically Marguerite was a game changer, even though the change took ages. In any case: I look at my three daughters now. Fierce and fearless, roaming into the wide wide open, educated to the sky and all with a decade of martial arts training under their belt(s). Any man laying hands on them against their will can be lucky if the ambulance arrives in time... As for JC: brilliant as ever. The subtle differences in the three chapters. Phew. Storywise the worst moment for me was when her husband basically raped her to, what, somehow reclaim his property? It's even worse than the original crime. He is supposed to love her, care for her. I automatically imagined my oldest daughter storming in, unceremoniously putting her Katana through him. Sorry for the violent thoughts.

Re-watched it yet again. Also has professional reasons. Butt really, this performance... I always have to rub my eyes. What do we see there? How is that possible? How is anyone able to pull that off? MY GOD! (and I'm an atheist... not so sure anymore, though.) I have been a film buff since my childhood, so like almost half a century. Have seen it all. Lot's of great stuff, loads of junk as well. Have been involved in acting and screenwriting myself. My daughter, an accomplished writer, and I chanced on JC late in 2023, Never heard about her before. Our perception of acting and character presentation changed completely. There are many great actors, but Jodie Comer is something else. Not just another level, more like a category of her own. She actually and truly, through and through, IS an actor. Born that way, I guess. But I also noticed that some people are irritated by her, as if her acting is way too real. Maybe I'm mistaken, but my perception is that JC really doesn't act her characters, rather she becomes them. She doesn't display mimicked emotions, she really has them. I have no other explanation. And Stephen Graham: fantastic actor, top notch, and I bet he'd be the first to agree that JC is "something else" altogether. He is a UK superstar and her biggest fan and supporter.

Your reaction videos are the only videos on youtube by a person totally unknown to me that I ever re-watched (in a, like, 30 years or so youtube "career"). It all feels relevant + same movies my daughters and I watch together. I'd join you on patreon, but we are in a financial impassé these days. Girls to college, medical bills. Life that is. My oldest daughter Sophie and I also are huge JC fans. Anyone who ever has dipped as much as a toe into film, acting, writing, these days is. My bet is she will go down in history by a nickname like, say THE PHENOMENON. Otherworldish. Outlandish. Beyond the beyond. As Ben Afleck said: there are not enough superlatives to describe her talent. I think he even contemplates giving up acting, like "What am I doing here, when THIS is out there?" About the mothers and daughters talk: It is complicated. So many variables. Character, upbringing, moral shit. In our case: my wife, Filipina, conservative catholic upbringing, rebellious, artist/scientist, but still. Me: think Scot, German, atheist, jewish culture, self ironic, artsy&sciency, raised on my Granddads Motto "The biggest mistake you can make is to take yourself too seriously." Wow, how often that saved my mind! And I guess that's why the girls, especially the complicated one, usually come to me when lost deep in the woods. I never judge. It's alien to me. I love them and try to help, or at least listen. So I'd say THERE IS NO FUCKING HOPE, WHEN THERE IS NOBODY LEFT WHO LISTENS.
