Weapons that go to war rarely comeback the same. They're either built stronger, made more violent, change hands, or fall in the battle. The council has made this group completely expendable... And outside of Keyleth, I don't think anyone cares if they live or die or what baggage they have. They just want them to gather information and be pawns in the game. Now that the entire council knows that Imogan and Fearne have massive connections with the moon, and that they have family connections with high ranking members of the vanguard... They've made themselves chips in a game of poker that they didn't intend on playing. It's going to be a wild ride... I think this campaign reaches 150 episodes.
1ST half of CR was a let down. I can respect the players RP skills, while being discouraged that they basically backed off of any actual story development in favor of unity. Orrym just rolled over no real consequences. Lame
I completely disagree. They didn't back off of story development...I think they pushed it to a whole other level. We already had the trust exercises in the Fey wild, we don't need to take a step backwards at this point in the story/campaign. We need to move forward. After everyone got over the initial shock and confusion of what happened, they talked it out like adults and put everything out on the table. They are going to hold each other accountable. They've been through too much just to regress and have more infighting. They were able to think more clearly and get a full understanding of what is going on. Having everyone at each other's throats just for the sake of drama would have been frustrating. It's more interesting to see how they overcome and deal with this together and now that they are all on the same page.
I only ever buy physical copies of games! Granted I’m not a huge gamer. But it gives me satisfaction to have the physical copy, and there’s some nostalgia with it as well.
there's a really good video from bellular news where they talk about how the dlc's, season pass and filler content has become an standard but itsnt new at all. at the end of the day, companies try to keep you engaged with "content" so they throw cosmetic and whatnot and see what sticks to the wall for profit. Larian's CEO (Baldur's Gate 3) say it in their speech for their DICE Awards. My Critical Role's Roman Empire is Calamity, its what made me dm again and i spent a lot of time thinking in their acting, their narrative arcs... how aabria was tired of xerxus by the end (not towards luis, but towards the character, you can hear/see her emotions), Brennan's Asmodeus, and fucking Travis Willingham rolling a nat 20 killing Vespin Chloras and her fucking 31 at the end. Also campaign 2 and how masterfully Matt developed an overal theme throughtout the whole run, and as a gm i also watch a lot of Soda Wax's "Critical Role: Your Voice Actor Is Showing" to improve my sound effeccts Great wrap-up guys!
47:02 imagine if instead of letting Indri pick the location of the conclave meeting where she could’ve chosen? What an interesting set of events if she would’ve chosen the citadel? 😂
As far as the vessel, it was my understanding that the vessel was needed to "ferry" predathos through the "divine mesh" that the gods put around the moon. I might be wrong though 🤷🏾♀️
Imo there's a huge difference between this and Ashton/Talison's choice. The whole shard thing definitely felt like a player choice that didn't really align with the character. Laudna has had this problem from the very beginning, starting with that stone. It was a character choice that aligned with the character 🤷🏾♀️
Honestly I've loved me and Will's back and forth on Ashton -- the one thing we agree on is people not separating the character choice from the actual player, and being weird/toxic about it. Good insight!
@Pixelists I agree, there were people taking it way too seriously on both sides and getting pretty toxic about it. Don't think I've seen a divide like that since Laura took the broom 😂🤣😂
I believe both situations can be pointed to as selfish player choices as opposed to intrigual character developments. Where they differ is that Marisha clearly has Matt on board and Talesin went rogue ignoring Matt's in game warnings. I've seen people express some feelings about Marisha squashing Robbies return and steal the spotlight leaving him mostly in the wings when this should be his time to pop.
I think Chetney was testing Laudna, more than placating her. By taking the dagger, she revealed that it wasn't really about the sword being evil and her wanting to protect Orym. She wanted it for the power.
I will entirely lose my shit if Desirat being unleashed is a setup for Asmodeus, played by Brennan, to make an appearance at the table during the live show.
Sup yall. First time commitmenter, here. What if Luda's itch is a mark of the laughing hand? Like, the one that was on Yasha. That would make Pradothos another name for Thorezdun, the Chained Oblivion, the O.G. Forgotten Relms god destroyer.
Hey hey! Thanks for commenting. So I haven't seen C2 but Will has... and there was a comment elsewhere about it being a callback to C2, so I think you may be on to something.
My wife and I started watching your recaps for campaign 3 at episode mid 50’s- at which point we were more than a year behind! You guys are awesome, and I have no idea why you don’t have more subscribers. We’ve now made it to here in just a few weeks- we watch 1-3 episodes a sitting, a few times a week. Feels like progress! Your summaries are comprehensive, enabling us to watch the actual live play at key points you describe (your descriptions are spot-on). Love the chemistry between you both. No Bells (pun intended) or whistles, just a great summary! I just recommended you on another RU-vid channel when Campaign 3 was mentioned in the context of trying to keep up. Thanks so much!
41:18 personally with everything that happened after that trust building exercise, are we sure it worked. The corporate retreat style thing done by one of the most chaotic people in exandria and a self taught therapist
I actually really like that latter point of yours. FCG was a beautiful character with selfless ambition, but he absolutely was figuring it out as he was going and as well intentioned the getaway was, I'm not sure if had any impact.
So, uh, that neck itch thing. I was just speculating that it could be a reference to the mind control focus from campaign 2 that the Fiend guy that served the Angel of Irons could make? So maybe Ludinus is being mind controlled? Most of me assumes I am wrong and its something to do with eating monsters though.
The power-up harness that the party has came from Ludinus, which he used to take in power from beings to become more powerful and likely extend his life. The device funnels to a point at the base of the neck. I think it is a reference to that device, there may be drawbacks to using the device a lot this way and make him vulnerable there, or perhaps all of that power is stored in that place and harming it may have a stronger effect on him.
Oh crap Halas. What funny dude, not sure if that could be possible, with how things wrapped up with him, then again didnt expect Trent being the pain that he still was. Who knows, but his existence is one of my more favorite aspects from C2
If we’re talking game terms… you need 2 *light weapons to *dual wield/two weapon fighting. Unless you have the Feat *Dual Wielder ; which removes the *light requirement… and the *Two Weapon Fighting Style lets you add your mod to the Bonus Action attack damage. Currently Orym has neither of those. Not sure what kind sword the Evil sword it thought…
Crazy canon: They go to Aeor, people frozen in time include... DUN DUN DUUUUNNNNN Bolo, now dispelled and disoriented. Enter Brennan Lee Mulligan. DUN DUN DUUUNNNNN Bolo has a faithful care giver. Ok... That is it for me and my in no way plausible head canon
Im surprised you guys didn’t talk about Matt/Delilah voice overlapping with Laudna. To hint that she has more control. Her voice in came through singularly as a sigh. So there’s that crazy bit.
Spoiler for C2 regarding Halas. . . . . . . . Halas's soul was trapped in a gemstone, which was stored in a personal pocket dimension created by Yussa the last we saw it.
Also, in previous epsiodes kinda of around and after the party split, both Orym and Imogen told Laudna that she should dive deeper into that dark power because they need it to win the war.
this just reminds me too much of early campaign two when they were all butts to each other. and i just couldn't get into it. might need to take a break until the squabble dies down.
I am terrified to see the results of Launda in her form of dread in front of Vox Machina. Which could happen during the big fight. Bells Hell's has already been earned that they won't let Launda live as long as Delilah is within her.
I’ve thought about this too! You know I’d love to see an interaction between Laudna and Cassandra before Percy finds out. They could both relate over how Delilah manipulates them😮
